the post office is a public service. it doesn’t need to make money. public transit doesn’t need to make money. the library doesn’t need to make money. some things exist for the public good and we desperately need lawmakers to stop thinking about them in terms of capitalism. these are not businesses.

i think back on my youth as an angry conservative kid who loved guns and spent way too much time online. i thank my lucky stars every day that i met good people as a young man who had the patience and foresight to guide me out of that stage of my life.

It’s crazy that every single time I the first bit of “somebody that I used to know” comes on and then becomes “anxiety,” I feel the exact same level of disappointment. You’d think it would stop being a surprise at some point, but I’m always on the edge of my seat, hoping for somebody I used to know

I have previously used the metaphor of replacing Excel formulas with the random number function as a metaphor for chatbots but they've gone and literally implemented exactly that
