Absolutely gutted that the Muirhead Oaks, an avenue of Category A, ecologically and historically important veteran Oaks in Chapelhall, Lanarkshire have been felled to build an AI Data Centre.

There's something brewing in Maryhill, a new exhibition about the historic Cafe D'Jaconelli and our Scots/Italian pals.
If you're visiting the Burgh Halls, take time out to visit Jaconelli's - I can vouch for the quality of their coffees, and their 'big breakfast' is to die for...

A detail of the side of a double decker tram which has orange paint below the lower windows and a band of green paint above. Immediately above the lower windows are narrow illuminated glass signs with red lettering reading, 'CORPORATION TRANSPORT'.
An oblique view of one end of the tram which is painted cream, green and orange. There are thre lights in the front and arrow-shaped indicators. On the front of the top deck are route and destination indicators reading, '15', 'COATBRIDGE' and 'FOOTBALL MATCH'.
Love to see the new illuminated 'Corporation Transport' lettering on 1930s Glasgow tramcar 1245 which is being restored by our amazing volunteers at Summerlee Museum
1245 was the last Glasgow tram to run before the power was turned off. See the Glasgow's Last Tram Group website glasgowslasttram.net

Portrait of JB Hamilton in later years, grey hair, neatly trimmed moustache, suit. He was general manager of Leeds trams for 23 years, until his death
John Baillie Hamilton was a Glasgow-trained veterinary surgeon who lived at 57 Marywood Square in Strathbungo.
He devised a novel way of reducing the suffering of horses.
He electrified the Glasgow Corporation Tramways.

57 Marywood Square, the former 26 Moray Place - Bygone Bungo
The residents of 57 Marywood Square; the Caledonian Pottery, how a vet electrified the Glasgow trams, and selling Welsh slate to the Scots.
As Rutherglen begins its 900 year celebrations, I note 57 Marywood Square, Strathbungo, was home to William Murray, owner of the immense Caledonian Pottery, once Rutherglen's largest employer, but now buried under the M74.
A new house history on BygoneBungo.

Great detail! The headlamp blackout cover looks similar to the one here, plus others I've found. Wonder if Glasgow / certain places got an exemption so you could just have the blackout shade on one side. It was only 1940 though, so they'd just been introduced. www.iwm.org.uk/collections/...

Oh yes, it looks like the Standard 10 hp, second pic down here with 3 windows each side (produced 1934-36). Good point about the headlamp alteration. Also looks like at least one of the mirrors has been removed. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standar...

Paging all car fans & automobile aficionados ~ can you tell us the make & model of this motor..?
Parked on Pollokshaws Rd opposite Langside Hall, it's from a larger photo taken 1940. Car may not be new but 1930s we assume. Someone's gotta know๐
