While I think summing up any social media platform as a "ghost town" is cheap and lazy, @mattnavarra.com is a decent guy and usually pretty fair. No need to shoot the messenger here. He's more popular on Threads and I follow him there too.

Threads would be could be so much better if got away from the Instagram UI approach. Plus the algorithms on Threads throw way too many posts in my feed from people I would never follow myself. I actually viewing Thread posts via Mastodon.

I think you have to treat social media platforms like we do counties. Just because one rural county has less population than a crowded urban county doesn't mean we do less for the people in that county. I think while growth is important, the level of interaction is more important.

I went ahead and restarted the comment section on my personal blog. We'll see how it goes. I'm using Disqus but if you have better (and hopefully free) options, please feel free to suggest them here. #blogging
