The detail on this one is exquisite

Color photo taken through a windshield. We're on I-90, driving west, approaching the skyway bridge. The highway takes up the bottom third of the frame. It is dawn. The top of the sky is blue like morning sky. But just above the horizon, there's still a peach/orange band stretching across the sky. Streetlights are still lit, dot-dot-dot'ing the path to the bridge, which is visible in the center of bridge.

Color photo of a car's driver side mirror. The road is visible behind it but not well illuminated. The black metallic frame of the mirror is visible in shadow. In the mirror's reflection, we can see the side of the car, itself reflecting the mottled clouds in sunrise colors, and then a direct reflection of the clouds in the main part of the mirror. Shades of peach at the bottom (where the sun is rising) and purple/blue/grays in the clouds above.

ICE was crawling all over the neighborhood today. Copters, masks, bullying, disappearances. I'm proud of this city for how much people came together, organized, and tried to help each other out. I'm sad at how scared the kids are. Current mood.... #chicago

Color photo. Taken through a rain-slicked car windshield at night. The scene is the back side of a grain elevator. On the right, we see one of the elevator's giant concrete cylinders. Next to it are two metal posts in a lattice or support. In the center-left of the frame is a kiosk next to a weigh station. The kiosk captures some warm reflected light. It's got a flag fluttering in the storm's winds. Between the kiosk and the metal posts, a light emits some orange light, which is crazily spread around by the rain on the window and perhaps some camera jitter. The scene has the feel of an oil painting.

Black and white photo of a landscape. We're on a narrow bike path that begins at the bottom of the frame and weaves back/forth to the horizon. On either side of the path is a strip of scraggly grass/brush and beyond that, the lake. At the horizon, a two prominent electrical pylons stand, with a half dozen more at half or a third their height across the horizon. Above, the sky is milky gray, and faintly we see some power lines coming in/out of the haze. At the top left, the image is slightly brighter, suggesting a just-out-of-frame sun. The overall vibe is nostalgic and murky and other-worldly.

Color photo of greenery, with (maybe? it's hard to tell?) a single tree centered in the image. But very harsh highlights on the top right (the sun) and very harsh shadows on the bottom make the image difficult to decipher. Also, there are parts of the image that are dreamily out of focus or blurred and a couple of light flares--all of which give a dreamy, memory feel versus a straight documentary capture.

In an overgrown yard, several shrubs sit in the foreground, a few large pine trees frame the image, and in the back a 1-2 story dead tree holds a platform with an empty white lawn chair pointed toward us.

Squint: atop this dead tree, on a rickety platform, inexplicably sits a humble deck chair. Same block as the tiny-hoop. This feels like a place you aren't welcome unless you've got a beer in your left hand and a bb gun in your right.

Color, portrait-orientation photo of a basketball backboard and hoop attached to a wooden utility pole. The pole is in some scraggly green grass on the side of a narrow paved but unmarked road. We can see a single house 100 meters down on the right. The hoop is absurdly low (maybe 3 ft high). The backboard is plywood that is weather-worn.

An hommage to Ikko Narahara's photo, "Shadow of car driving through desert, Arizona". This is a black-and-white photo of a nighttime scene looking up Lincoln Ave in Chicago. The main element is a bus in the center, racing away from us, with light streaks from its rear lights and the slow exposure. Nearer to us, on the right edge, is the outline of the metal frame of a car parked on the side of the road. Across the road, we see the near edge of some other parked cars lit up in high contrast. Behind them, one of the building fronts shows a 5-10 story-high mural of Abe Lincoln, gazing out over the scene from his sunken eye sockets.

Same. I’m going to try an overnight ride, given the constraints of family/work, so I’m delighted to see there is pretty good coverage of trails most of the way so I’m on narrow, fast, poorly lit country roads as little as possible.

Thanks for posting the answer. I’m looking at riding up and biking back in the next week or so. Was curious myself

I feel you. An apartment I had in Brooklyn a decade ago had roaches and go to my grave with active ptsd.
