Even just one meager semicolon in the correct spot would make the experience of reading this sentence feel less fever dream-y. As it is, reading that made me feel disoriented, almost carsick.

A boxy (limestone?) skyscraper looms in the distance, framed by the criss-crossing steel beams of the L track superstructure in the foreground, on an overcast day in downtown Chicago.

a brick residential structure in the vicinity of Chicago’s Lincoln park area is seen from behind some bare tree branches. Attention is drawn to the building’s two large rectangular windows which each feature a multicolored array of square stained glass panels, arranged in a quilt-like composite.
