1. A story. Please read.
Reposts hugely appreciated on this. You'll see why in a bit.
I was born in Pakistan and lived there until I was 4. My parents worked there as doctors. While we were there we were very close to a couple called Christine and Mike Miles.
Which is why CJ is so great.

"She states that “only 14.9 per cent of teachers were identified as being from an ethnic minority background" [implying this needs rectifying]"
Only 18% of people in England and Wales belong to an ethnic minority* background.
3.1% is not a worrying disparity.

I enjoy reception class but miss the older ones. Y5 loved using magnifiers to read this timeline.
23.03.2025 09:40 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Because leaders take their eyes off the ball. Most awful when in situations such as whole school assembly when leads, after signalling for silence, allow low level background noise to continue when resuming speaking…….why should anyone else bother when it’s not modelled at the top.
16.03.2025 19:36 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Tarjinder is right; primary schools don’t tend to PEX a child if they bring a knife in. We work with the child, family and relevant authorities to try to understand the reason why.
However, I wouldn’t want my child going to a secondary school that DIDN’T have a zero-tolerance policy on this.
A supermarine spitfire.
Even to someone who's no expert in aircraft so obvious this is beautiful design.
09.02.2025 12:30 — 👍 40 🔁 4 💬 3 📌 0I have just vented. I cannot find anything positive to say. I find the term Report Card insulting. The toolkit will drive up workload. It’s an APP grid lookalike.
Exemplary is the new Outstanding.
The word ‘leader’ is in toolkit 200 times. ‘Teacher’ is there 20 times.
Meaningless word salad.
Really interesting piece in the @tesmagazine.bsky.social by @ensermark.bsky.social ...

It’s just so awful and depressing how quickly it’s been rolled out and that it isn’t really for schools and certainly won’t drive real improvement. It’s for parents. They call it a report card ffs
It’s insulting.
Most telling feature from Louise McL on the toolkits apart from the absolute, car crash , APP style madness and incoherence? Word ‘leaders’ mentioned 200 times. The word ‘teachers’? 20 As a non SLT teacher, its inevitable stress will be off loaded onto teachers to ensure leadership is okay.
09.02.2025 09:30 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0It came as a shock to those without £ security, but was quickly accepted. It slowly escalated and now, it’s almost taken for granted that if you don’t have at least a silver plated spoon, you may have to pay for uni ed the rest of your life…….they stop asking for their money back when you are 65.

Meanwhile, trust funds got it all covered😂 It was always going to go in this direction ⬇️ All this talk about the ‘gap’ closing in sch….then the door firmly closes.
Same as it ever was

07.01.2025 18:19 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I am a FT teacher and have been asked to mentor a student 2nd school practice ( 2 terms). Apparently, I now need to do 20 hours training. ( several modules) to make sure I’m fit for purpose. This does not seem reasonable to me. I just did around 6 hours to mentor an in school trainee last year!!
