But I know a lot of families rely on it. Families with low income, individuals with disabilities, people in between jobs. I know it can be hard to ask for help, but if you're a mutual and you'll be harmed by the pause in SNAP, please reach out to me directly. I would like to help.

and no jobs to be found anywhere, and so again we relied on SNAP while I got my business off the ground and the wife worked part-time. It was a scary time for us. It would've been far worse without SNAP. Things improved for us soon after--my income increased and we didn't need SNAP anymore.

SNAP benefits ending has me worried. I didn't use SNAP as an undergrad (although I was probably eligible). But in law school, with a newborn, the wife and I both worked part-time but didn't bring in enough to make ends meet. I graduated during the Great Recession, another child on the way...

Mosiah 11:8: "And it came to pass that king Noah built many elegant and spacious buildings; and he ornamented them with fine work of wood, and of all manner of precious things, of gold, and of silver, and of iron, and of brass, and of ziff, and of copper..."

Honestly, it's not a good look on the church that they're not doing everything they can to stop this.

54.1% said Yes, 27% said Not Sure, and only 18.9% said no. So more than half of Trump voters support Trump clearly violating the Constitution, and it appears not to be a dealbreaker for 80% of Trump voters. (Alaska Survey Research, 2025 Fall Loyalty Project Report)

A survey done in late September in Alaska asked Trump voters: Donald Trump has made suggestions that he might run for a third term in 2028, even though doing so would be in clear violation of the 22nd Amendment of the Constitution. Would you still vote for him in 2028, despite this?

I'm an immigration attorney who was around for Trump 1 and I'm absolutely not shocked.

We actually had a lot of success with Germans and other Europeans (turn of the century) but that definitely wasn't the norm.

Yeah, they started shutting down German missions right after I left. I'm surprised any of the new ones are in Western Europe.

Idaho AG Raul Labrador was once an immigration attorney, which makes his participation in this farce even more ridiculous.

The event was held at the giant Melaleuca building south of Idaho Falls. Apparently worried about getting enough people to attend, the entire local bar was invited. Free dinner and a chance to hear the wise Judge Thomas Griffith speak--I'll never pass up that kind of opportunity.

Trump Judges Keep Pulling Desperate, Sweaty Stunts In the Hopes That He Gives Them Promotions Only Ryan Nelson has the courage to ask the hard questions, like, what if the law allows Donald Trump to do whatever he wants?

I was at the "after-party" of this loser's (Ryan Nelson) judge-swearing-in-ceremony. Not because of him, but because another judge who I greatly respect was speaking. Ever since, the cowardly Judge Nelson continues to disappoint.

My conservative stake leaders' reaction was to tape off every other pew, call it "social distancing," and say "we'd like you to appear to stake conference in person. If you feel you absolutely need to mask despite our social distancing measures, there will be some masks available."

It's not true period. There's a band called Helloween that's put out over a dozen albums in the past 40 years. Alan Parsons Project had an entire album centered around the works of Edgar Allan Poe.

Old article, but the swastika is still there, still uncovered. I snapped this picture a couple of months ago.

My swastika tattoo is now historical. See, I had it done before WWII, so it's all good to stay permanently.

Anger at God; sadness at, well, everything; realizing that God places trust in us to help relieve other's suffering.

My thoughts on God and suffering are better communicated in song--anger to sadness to understanding.

Here's a photo I took inside the Bonneville County courthouse a few months back.

This is how I feel about the swastikas in the tile of the floor of the Bonneville County courthouse, placed in 1921. Yes, the Nazis didn't use it as their flag until 1933. But that was over 90 years ago, and the swastikas are still there.

Star Trek Picard had the same idea, except they executed it better--they used time travel to make the point.

Getting caught up with the last season of Foundation on Apple TV--a sci-fi show set in the very distant future--and one of the characters says in response to a broken ice machine, "F*ck ice." While I appreciate the sentiment it did seem a bit like breaking the fourth wall.

Pretty sure I'm not alone in saying all of the from-scratch brownies I've tried have been terrible. Some of the box types are terrible too. Betty Crocker box brownies are pretty good. Ghirardelli box brownies (found at Costco) are good.

For Eastern Idaho folks, Broulims pharmacy is usually great but this year they're not giving out the COVID vaccine to the under-65 crowd. Get your flu/COVID shots elsewhere.

People commenting on the new Helmuth Hubener movie on Facebook are comparing the conditions he faced in Nazi Germany to the conditions they faced when they refused to wear masks during the pandemic. They're comparing him to Charlie Kirk. What are we even doing? It's all so stupid.
