I pay 10% more rent on 20% less salary. Also in Astoria, and I guarantee not in as nice a part.

Repeating my take... gridiron football is a sport ideally played by robots.

I'm actually serious. Make Cyberball happen.

It would be neat if someone did a survey of Americans asking them to rank these forms of theft in order of how much money is stolen.

My bet is that - if they were told shoplifting was part of larceny - most would think that was the biggest category.

This is a key point. Much of 20th/21st C. β€œinnovation” has been a β€œpursuit of loneliness” (to borrow a phrase from P.Slater). From private cars to β€œhome as castle”; cable, narrowcasting & all the ways the internet helps us avoid interaction. An atomized ppl are easier to sell to & easier to control.

I think it’s safe to say they’re just gonna be enforcing the laws they want to enforce against the people they want to enforce them against instead of honoring the body of the constitution as an all-encompassing mandate for behavior, so you gotta stop seeing the world inside that system

11 more NYC libraries will soon open on Sundays A $2 million City Council deal will expand seven-day service to more than 30 branches citywide.

Eleven more libraries will reopen on Sundays, thanks to the leadership of the City Council. They never should've been closed in the first place.

As Mayor, I'll end this absurd budget dance that keeps our beloved libraries in limbo year after year.

TRANSCRIPT OF CARTOON

This cartoon has four panels. Each of the panels shows the same location: A abstract, mostly empty space. But there’s a white line dividing the space in two. On the left side of the space are three activist-looking people – a woman wearing a sleeveless turtleneck and glasses, a man wearing a hoodie and a knit hat, and a woman with a short spiky hairdo.

On the right of the line is a handsome man in his 40s or 50s, with neatly combed hair, wearing black pants and a business shirt with a necktie. He basically looks like a politician. Also to the right of the line is some sort of pole sticking straight up from the ground (I was thinking it was a lamppost when I drew it, but since we’re only seeing the bottom six or seven feet of it, we don’t see the β€œlamp” part in this cartoon).

PANEL 1

The Politician is clinging to the lamppost with both hands. A rope is tied around his ankles, and Glasses, Knit Cap, and Spiky are pulling hard on the rope, as if they’re in a tough game of β€œtug of war,” trying to pull the Politician to the left. They’re pulling so hard that the politician’s legs and body are horizontal, and he’s a couple of feet off the ground. The three activists have expressions of effort and determination; the Politician is wailing.

GLASSES: C’mon!

KNIT CAP: We’re going this way!

POLITICIAN: Can’t we be patient?

PANEL 2

As the three continue to pull on the, the politician has lost his grip on the lamppost. His fingernails are leaving scrapes on the ground as he struggles not to be pulled left.

GLASSES: Why is he being so stubborn?

SPIKY: Heave!

POLITICIAN: Nooooooo! It’s not the time yet! It’s not safe!

PANEL 3

The Politician has been pulled to the left of the line and is looking around fearfully. The three activists are panting, clearly exhausted.

PANEL 4

The politician has stood up and is taking a prideful pose.

POLITICIAN: I’m proud my leadership got us over the line!

Got a quick look at the new upcoming expansion for Burning Banners from Compass Games called The Southern Expansion. It has 3 new races (Elves, Mara Mitai and Savage Orcs). These are only prototype components. Thanks to Curtis for the overview.

Played my first game of VANTAGE this morning with my 14yo. No pics or details because Spoilers. A couple goofs and one β€œreset” but we completed a mission. The game is very β€œsoft”, it gives you a lot of freedom to approach things in different ways, and rewards curiosity- what you want from exploring.
