Some if the community ports look great, for instance the Volla ports, but I need android apps for work and dont want to use two devices. Waydroid is an option but no idea how useable it is

I then bought the C2 and it wasn't anywhere as good
I used SailfishOS as a daily driver for years. Its not android or iOS levels of smooth and there are a lot of caveats. But it can be done fairly easily.
