for cooking its worth investing in some gadgets that make it easier like an air fryer or a pressure cooker. and when trying new recipes, even though they're hard to find, try and find the lower effort ones. if something requires 7+ fresh spices or like, fucking cardamom, i nope out immediately

once you're all set up and you're following who you wanna follow it's pretty much the same as here or twitter. you don't really gotta think much about the separate servers aspect

if you've already done that, then reduce or eliminate your commute

what server you pick mostly matters for how its moderated, you can still interact with people from other servers normally when they appear in your feed. for example if you joined a different server than mine, you'd just put @eniko@mastodon.gamedev.place in the search bar, then click follow

then yeah you could join up at mastodon.gamedev.place, though they do require a signup process but they usually process it in a day or so

you can also go to joinmastodon.org and either join mastodon.social which has open signups or look for other types of servers
