An interesting read.
I really like Mark’s comment about teacher agency over autonomy.

β€˜Perfect is the enemy of good’ is a phrase I’d like to steal. A good reminder that it’s never perfect first time round. Enjoy your new job @ensermark.bsky.social. I agree, it’s the best job!

This is very true in geography. For example we decided we will all teach a lesson on local, national and international impacts of climate change. We wrote our own lesson about impacts on the Norfolk coastline. We might all use the same national example then our preference for international.

We’re similar. Our curriculum is collaboratively mapped. We share resources across our Trust and some elements are essential teaching but with autonomy over delivery or specific examples we use. We then complete the unit with lessons of our choice or centrally shared ones. I think it works well.

It’s also had a positive impact on teacher workload. Thank you.

Huge thank you to @internetgeography.bsky.social for their incredible resources. We are super happy with our results and in part this is thanks to the amount of homework our students did. We used the revision boost booklets and interleaved the topics across the 2 years.

Just discovered something useful for anyone using an Apple device - if you click on the β€˜share’ arrow under a post, you can save it in a new note in the notes app. Helpful if you’re like me and bookmark loads of posts you never remember to look at again!

Hey, new #edusky users, on bluesky, reposting matters more than on Twitter. If something is reposted, it makes it more likely more people will see it. If you like it enough that someone else might like it, repost it!

Thrilled to be working with the edu-legend that is @hugheshaili.bsky.social on a new book on teacher retention - titled β€˜Love The One You’re With: Why Teachers Stay and What We Can Learn From Them’. We’re currently interviewing teachers of 20+ years - get in touch if you’d like to be involved!
