no one wants to hear this but the way to combat the messaging problem is probably to give the meidas touch crew a cable channel

the democratic party’s basic problem is it has almost no control over how its message reaches the ears of voters, especially outside of presidential election years. but rather than devote serious time, attention and cash to that problem its consultants and pundits want to fight factional battles

Far too many smug, privileged failchildren who think being contrarian is being insightful and actively help the fascists win to please the algorithm and their billionaire owners

I’ve mentioned this before but even if we somehow unite the center and far left and get minorities and men back none of that will change the fact that much of our media apparatus, legacy and independent, is staffed by stupid fucking dipshit babies

I think “we protest Harris because we’d get arrested if we protested Trump” is rational, but I feel like you can’t say that and also expect people to treat said protesting as an especially brave or noble act then.

Ironically, that’s one of the criticisms that I *will* give Dems- that they insufficiently invested in the information/media environment and they’re struggling to find their feet now

The peer pressure of social media becomes extremely clear whenever anyone talks about Kamala or Hillary.

Every single reply is almost always prefaced with a "Look, Hillary wasn't perfect, but she was right, yada yada." "Harris isn't perfect, but she ran a great campaign etc. etc."

The media will never hold “normal” politicians accountable if they’re barely capable of doing that for the Trump Administration

Once that’s done you have to COMMIT. You’re already in a lose-lose situation. At that point your caucus has to stay united and jump into hell together. But he watched them jump in and after they burned, said “nuh-uh, I rather not”

this, plus hanging patty murray out to dry, plus failing to communicate his position *last week before everyone stuck their necks out* are all reasons the caucus has to can him as leader, regardless of what happens with cloture

There’s a ton of hindsight-motivated thinking now. Based on the information earlier there was no way to predict this. House Dems were united and so many conservative Senate Dems were saying no.

That so many people were LEGITIMATELY BLINDSIDED by this, is the reason why this was dumb by Schumer.

Any, and I mean *any*, Senate Dem who votes “no” on the CR/cloture vote tomorrow has a better grasp on the direction of the country and is better fit to be in party leadership than Schumer

Forget yelling at Dems to tweet more. THIS is probably what the biggest shortcoming of the various Dem state parties are, and this is where a lot of the yelling will go a long way.

I won't ever say there's nothing to criticize with the democrats, 'cause holy shit they got problems, but articles like THIS fuckin' trash are why we have the current crisis.
