Went to @legolandwindsor.bsky.social yesterday , with friends. The last time we went was the second year it opened (28 years ago).

I don’t think my mortality will let me wait the same amount of time for the next visit.

Well, be thankful they still didn’t have hands and feet in them.

A little free time today, so had a change of foliage on my Lego Bonsai Tree from “Spring” to “Summer”.

The families depicted were caught in a never ending cycle of poverty, insecurity, and frequently ill health. Their evident despair reflects the complete loss of hope in there being any positive resolution to their deprivation.

The English documentary photographer Nick Hedges died a couple of days ago. It’s well worth visiting his website to see some of the most remarkable photos. He was particularly famed for his slum photos Ar dheis Dé

So, I’ve decided to see what all the fuss was about and have opened up my copy of “Animal Crossing - New Horizons”, at last.

Of course, my Switch needs around 28 hours of updates…

And yes, a swarm has moved into the top half too. So double the trouble!

This is going to be fun to rehome them both.

What the floor has done is split the pile of old stuff into two - “ground floor” now occupied.

And then I noticed bees hanging around the “top floor”.

But not by the entrance, but by a knot.

But, forgot that at the rear of the floor (underneath) is a big space…

So a swarm moved in at the back, below the floor!

You may remember that I keep the stash of not used beehive bits in the back garden and most years I end up with a swarm in it - which I then have to rehome up at the farm.

This year, I’d thought I’d be clever and put a beehive floor (with opening) to make the possible move easier.

The bestest advice. Ever.

Perfect weather and lots and lots to see. A nice lunch (sausage and mash) and the fun steam train ride. Stopped and talked to lots of people too.

I’ve had a few over the last two or more years, but they always get given away. Hopefully, I’ll get to hold on to one of these ones.

Treated myself to a full Persian steel necklace made by Inferno Creations (bsky.app/profile/cama...), which arrived this weekend.

Was quite fascinating watching the creation process on his Twitch Stream.

Early 80’s wasn’t it? I think it maybe worth another watch by me quite soon.

And got myself some rather nice memento mori pieces (a ring and some cufflinks).

I’m probably more inclined to use them not as a reminder “that we all die, so live life to the full”, but reminding me of the last item on my “bucket list”.

Paining “Juggling” by Shanti Thomas. In Juggling, Thomas depicts a woman negotiating everyday life. The figure glances at the viewer as she keeps her conflicting commitments in the air. The open door beside her seems to question her place within the scene. In 1988, Thomas co-founded the arts education agency Panchayat with fellow artists Bhajan Hunjan, Shaheen Merali, Symrath Patti and Allan deSouza. Panchayat organised exhibitions across the country and acted as a supportive network for feminist South Asian artists in Britain.

Nice to have an old friend back home.
