This rebuilding project would also not be anything like Trump’s idea, but would be led by Palestinian-American leaders to rebuild faithfully to the culture. Should it be nicer than it was before? Perhaps. But it should still feel Palestinian.
Then, the same Arab partners would form a TEMPORARY…

Most importantly, the US and Israel would guarantee a right of return to each and every Gazan, tied to all aid to Israel. If Israel prevents even one Gazan from returning home after or during the reconstruction, all aid contracts would be canceled between Israel and the US.

What can be saved will be saved and what cannot be saved will be destroyed to make it easier to rebuild. Egypt, Jordan, UAE, and Saudi will provide TEMPORARY and dignified housing for the refugees of Gaza. Every Gazan should be given the option to TEMPORARILY leave Gaza during the rebuilding effort…

Their arms, and their leaders in Gaza and abroad are given permanent asylum and guarantees they won’t be killed in Qatar or another similar state.

With the financial backing of the US and other Arab partners, (ideally not under Trump) Gaza will undergo a mass rebuilding a la the Marshall Plan…

There are no good options for the future of Gaza. Everything seems horrible. But if I were in a position to have some influence in this arena, here is one proposal I have:

Israel and Hamas agree to a permanent ceasefire where Hamas releases all hostages, both dead and alive, and Hamas lays down…
