I whine a lot about work & not getting to be home all day to enjoy the comfort of my apartment.

Then I remember that my granny & her family were indigenous sharecroppers fighting for survival in the Dust Bowl & I go to my silly little dog walking job with gratitude.

My younger self put so much into that first book & hitching it to her self worth. I'd tell her that it's ok to have a terrible book that doesn't get better with edits & that no one will ever see. It's doesn't make her unloved if something isn't a success.

So for school I'm supposed to post to a discussion board on a topic. Then I respond to two other people's posts for my grade. This morning I woke up to a response on my post from another classmate. Except all they had done was said "I relate because" and then ran my post through AI. 😮‍💨

This charity anthology (which includes my story “A Tall, Thin House”) benefits women and children experiencing homelessness.
