Reason: Not all Jewish Australians identify with Israel. The proportion who identify as Zionist is arguably decreasing. Israel therefore does not represent Jewish Australia. Israel's President is therefore irrelevant to Australia. The Jewish Council of Australia has expressed outrage that the Albanese Government would fuel the flames of division by inviting President Herzog to visit Australia, warning that his trip is completely inappropriate and offensive and will rightly spark mass protests. Last year a UN Human Rights Council special commission of inquiry into the war in Gaza found Israel was committing genocide, and that comments made by Mr Herzog following the Hamas October 7 attack were evidence of genocidal intent. Legal groups have called on the Australian Federal Police (AFP) to investigate the Israeli President for his role in alleged war crimes. The invitation to Isaac Herzog has divided the nation. It has done untold harm to social cohesion. The people deserve to know what (and who) went wrong. Request: We therefore ask the House to investigate the circumstances surrounding the invitation. Who said what to who and when? What "suggestions" were made (if any)? What "advice" was given (if any)?

So so many people OC sprayed. I've heard reports of broken bones. At one point, about 10 people took refuge in a 7/11, and the absolute legend of an owner locked the door to keep us safe after police tried to pepper spray us from outside. Myself and others administered first aid in the 7/11 to people who'd been sprayed as one of the riot cop thugs stood outside menacingly, trying to get the owner to open the door.
