🍇In Catalan farmhouses like ours, it's very common to find antique tiles. At Can Martí, we have different types of tiles, but we particularly like this white grape tile. It measures about 13 cm on each side and was probably made in the 18th century.

📍At the Can Martí estate, various families of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians coexist. The estate’s streams, the River Anoia, together with the vineyards, olive groves and forests, are their natural habitat.

🍇Harvest has finished but the work in the winery still continues. In this case we are doing the ‘pigeage” to the Syrah, inside an open barrel. Drowning the skin of the grapes, the grape juice is in contact with the skin to gain more colour, tannins and flavours.

🍾This week we have started the harvest, our 75th since we began making sparkling wine! To celebrate this milestone, we have created Torelló 75th Anniversary Brut 2018, a corpinnat with 75 months of ageing, one month for each year we are commemorating!

💚 It also helps avoid the loss of aroma and colour in the must caused by the daytime heat, and, finally, it means we save energy as the grapes don’t need cooling before pressing.

🌙 At Torelló, for the past few years, we’ve been harvesting at night, starting at 4:30 a.m., to catch the coolest temperatures (between 16°C and 19°C, depending on the day). This helps protect the health of our pickers and prevents heatstroke.
