The various AUs have so much whacky and random shit in them, it’s easy to just name a bunch of the weirdness expecting it to be a selling point. But from everything I’ve seen, newcomers to the franchise don’t even want to have to remember what an AU is, and it makes things seem WAY more overwhelming

Turn A being non-negotiable is definitely the correct move lol, but I’d recommend watching at least one non-tomino AU beforehand just to feel what it’s like when he’s gone. Plus you have all the banger UC OVAs to break up the other stuff

YES! Knocking out the main stuff through CCA and then going wherever with it is def the move IMO. Late UC stuff can be tough to get into and I’d hesitate to introduce people to any AUs until they’re used to the actual core of the franchise tbh. This is a good-ass plan

No, this is the way. I’ve hosted multiple gundam watchalongs in my server and someone always shows up trying to audition for “cohost of gundam movie night” by infodumping a bunch of irrelevant shit about AUs and MSV and other bullshit, and it always makes potential new fans’ eyes glaze over
