Headline from Harvard Crimson: "Harvard President Garber Tells Faculty He Is Not Considering a $500 Million Deal With Trump."
Text of story: Harvard prez Garber says report of a deal "was apparently leaked to the press by White House officials." NYT ran with it as a story.
Important details from this story:
1) Yet another news-break by student journalists (this time @theharvardcrimson.bsky.social) www.thecrimson.com/article/2025...
2) Harvard saying "see you in court," not "let's make a deal."
3) Per Garber, WH/MAGA leaked news of a "deal." NYT then ran with it.

The Mothership Vortex: An Investigation Into the Firm at the Heart of the Democratic Spam Machine
How a single consulting firm extracted $282 million from a network of spam PACs while delivering just $11 million to actual campaigns.

$282M to one consulting firm: Mothership Strategies.
$11M to actual campaigns (1.6%)

Gazaβs cash crisis is a painful reminder of powerlessness
Israel decimated the banking system, leading so-called cash brokers to charge exorbitant fees to access banknotes
The inability to access cash is the reality facing everyone in Gaza, despite cash being the only way to pay for food & medicine, reports Mariam Mushtaha. Israel decimated the banking system, making it harder for Gazans to stay alive during the famine.

Interior Order Chokes Off Permits for Solar and Wind on Federal Lands
The department creates a seemingly impossible new permitting criteria for renewable energy.
HUGE: The Trump administration will no longer permit any solar or wind projects on federal lands unless they produce more energy-per-acre than coal, gas or nuclear power plants.
Solar and wind literally produce less energy per acre, so simply this may just kill off any project on federal lands.

Lemme just say if President Bernie Sanders had unilaterally imposed, by executive fiat, hundreds of billions of new taxes, personally browbeat executives about job cuts and investments and then fired the head of BLS, the Chamber of Commerce and the business orgs would not be sitting idly by.

The Budget Lab at Yale University, a nonpartisan research center, updated its tariff tracker on Friday. It calculated that American consumers will have to contend with an average effective tariff rate of 18.3 percent, the highest since 1934. As a result, the center estimates that price increases will cost each household on average $2,400 this year. Shoe prices, for example, are expected to rise 40 percent in the short run. Americaβs total economic output β its gross domestic product β is estimated to shrink by about $120 billion annually in the years to come.
