It’s the first of the month. That means tenants in Los Angeles have officially been on utility strike for 6 months. They are refusing to pay their RUBS (ratio utility billing system) utility bills while they demand transparency for their high monthly bills.

the party now cared more about climate change and various academic fixations than cheap energy and good-paying jobs.

This right here, this exact sentence, is THE problem in American political journalism.

The IRA *was* cheap energy and good jobs! That was the whole bill! Democrats did precisely what political pundits are telling them to do and the pundits just ignore it.

I know "what if a Dem did this?!" is a tired observation but ya if a Dem did this it would be a tall tale about liberal contempt for law enforcement in conservative media for the next 40 years

I had a friend who got MAGA-pilled who insisted that the left's obsession with victimhood was why she changed sides, and when I showed her a few examples of the right claiming victimhood status based on nonsense like this, she blocked me. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

It's not in fact anti-Christian bigotry to say it's distasteful to publicly announce your desire to convert your spouse to your religion.

They're such snowflakes.

This is a longstanding, thoroughly disproven lie.

Vance is carving out a little niche for himself as the guy who tells vicious, racist lies about non-white people to massage the egos of white nationalists. And the *specific* lies he tells reveal he’s well versed in white nationalist propaganda.

These are mostly stories about SNAP but note the Connecticut heating assistance one. Apparently they are only going to pay for folks who get home heating oil. My guess is that's the biggest share of folks on CEAP. ctmirror.org/2025/10/27/c...

The Black People Who Fled Slavery Had a Lot to Teach Their Northern Allies Black-led vigilance committees not only protected and aided fugitives but also learned from the formerly enslaved as they built a movement pedagogy together.

"An organized urban wing of the [Underground] railroad called vigilance committees focused on protecting, supporting, and learning from fugitives."

When Congress chooses not to fight back, it creates permission; if electeds had fought the illegal gutting of USAID, today's fight would be easier--stronger muscles & clearer message

I would love to read a menswear guy-type thread about the history of statuary (vs. carrara or calacatta) marble in home design and bathrooms specifically. But I am also pretty sure statuary marble was not used in bathrooms at all during the Lincoln era.
