Youβre sitting down to eat some greasy pizza - what sounds good to drink with it? If youβre thinking about reaching for a beer, youβre not alone. Beer and pizza go together likeβ¦ well, beer and pizza.
30.11.2025 19:16 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The culture of βmove fast and break thingsβ isnβt a moral failure or a governance oversight. Itβs an ecological response to the conditions weβve created.
26.11.2025 20:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0In ecology, those are exactly the conditions that select for fast-life history strategies: r-selected organisms that reproduce quickly, burn resources, and invest almost nothing in long-term viability. If you look at the way todayβs major AI companies behave, itβs hard not to miss the parallel.
26.11.2025 20:34 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Right now the AI ecosystem looks like fast colonization of a new habitat: resources suddenly opened up, competition intense, survival uncertain, and the whole landscape reshaped faster than anyone can track.
26.11.2025 20:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The AI safety conversation focuses on alignment, making powerful systems do what we want. But what if thatβs the wrong question? What if the issue isnβt controlling one system, but cultivating healthy ecosystems?

AI systems - especially self-training systems - are built on recursion. They update themselves based on feedback. They generate variation. They propagate internal patterns across training cycles. In other words, they provide everything evolution needs to get going.

11.11.2025 16:51 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβve spent my career studying cooperation and looking for general principles that apply across systems.
Lately, Iβve been turning my attention to AI, thinking about the ways that cooperation science can help us navigate what is probably the most critical challenge of our time.

11.11.2025 02:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Peer review can be painfully slow - taking months or even years to get papers published. When you have a paper that challenges an existing paradigm, or brings other disciplines to bear on a problem, peer review often fails.
11.11.2025 02:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Even if I spent the rest of my career trying to publish what Iβve written in these notebooks, thereβs no way Iβd get through all of them.
11.11.2025 02:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I started a Substack called Not For Peer Review. Iβve filled my notebooks with ideas, many of which have inspired my articles and books. But there are so many ideas that I havenβt published, and, if Iβm being honest with myself, I know I will never publish through the traditional peer review system.
11.11.2025 02:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If you canβt attend in person, youβre invited to join the livestream. Iβm looking forward to sharing insights from my recent research and connecting with others who are thinking deeply about the intersection of cooperation, intelligence, and the future of humanity.
09.11.2025 18:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This conversation will bring together thinkers and scientists exploring one of the most important questions of our time: How can we align artificial intelligence with the cooperative principles that have guided lifeβs major evolutionary transitions?
