It's worked we've done together since 2020 and when I've pushed to expand it they've been silent.

The added complication in all of this is the personal connection. Like part of the wedding ceremony close 🙃

After some digging it looks like it was submitted Feb 23, so it's been submitted and rejected, which is something I guess? But even now we are actively collaborating on other projects, just feels wrong.

Planning out research proposal, collecting data from a pilot, pushing collab who I consider a friend to pursue it further and how it will be an exciting project for us, and I've found out they've applied for a grant to research it without me. Completely blindsided by it and unsure how to address.

Getting an email at nearly 4pm on a Friday from a Journal saying "a decision about your manuscript will be made soon" is exactly the kind of anxiety inducing moment I need the least right now.

I can see this exploiting underfunded PhD students by offering money for research that would do well in much better journals but don't know any better.

In the middle of presenting this slide I realised that every year we teach ~500 women how to code as part of 1st year psychology, and if I do nothing else with my career, it will have all been worth it.

I highlight the different ways that we identified these bots, and provide some suggestions for how researchers can reduce the influence of bots, and ensure they are getting good quality data from their surveys.
