I generally love your reporting but the illustration for this article is deeply weird. The conditions look much better than what is actually reported, mostly in terms of space per inmate. The inmates are depicted without faces, as well. It both minimizes the situation and dehumanizes the victims.

VA Just Terminated Most Federal Union Contracts, National Nurses United Included
The VA has terminated union contracts for over 360,000 healthcare workers, including nursesβraising urgent concerns about staffing, patient safety, and veteran care nationwide.
Our VA nurses & staff donβt deserve this. Theyβve dedicated their lives to caring for veterans β and now theyβve had their union rights terminated overnight. We must stand with these heroes & fight to preserve collective bargaining for the people who protect our veterans.

I've also seen work where people use diffusion models to emulate much more computationally intensive models (earth systems models, for example). Then, the confidence analysis can be done empirically once, when the emulated model is published.

Sensitivity analysis attempts to get at this problem. Part of what makes it challenging is when model inputs are large. How do we define model variance over the space of all 1920x1080 images? Or all possible sentences?

Uproar as disability protesters in wheelchairs dragged out of House Medicaid meeting
Republicans insist the proposed new work requirements wonβt hurt people with disabilities, but disability rights advocates disagree
Praise from @aoc.bsky.social for the disability rights activists who protested: "I think that they have demonstrated a tremendous amount of courage and bravery putting themselves on the line in order to defend Medicaid for people across the country."

Mobilizing for better bike infra
Weβve gotten better at finding safe bike routes. But the quality of our routes is limited by the quality of your cityβs bike infrastructure. How do we make that infrastructure better? It doesnβt fall from the sky from benevolent bike storks.
It requires grassroots organizing, political savvy, and the bravery to confront the car-addicted status quo. Through partnerships with local advocates, we regularly prompt Transitβs millions of riders to take action when their cityβs transportation infrastructure is at stake.
Benevolent bike storks usually focus on distributing gravel bikes, in my experience πͺΆπ²

Panel 2: same shot as first panel. βIt gives me time to take risks in my artβ
Panel 3: a square canvas made out of bark is fixed to a tree trunk. On it we see a full self-portrait of the sparrow. Dried leaves and sticks and seeds form its body. A piece of farfalle and a purple flower serve as accents. Assorted sticks and cigarette butts make a fashionable border.
Panel 4: sparrow is in foreground with her eye closed in artistic expression. βMy most haunting work to dateβ she says.
