It’s difficult isn’t it bc those ideas were standard bc they were the day’s consensus. Higher ones are today’s consensus. What bestows privilege on an idea other than β€œthe mind of the Church”?

Isn’t the traditional covenant theology that the sponsors answer on the child’s behalf? What’s wrong with that? If we don’t like that, then we might need to become Anabaptists and wait for the child to speak for themselves? What/how else could we ask/tell the child?
