A quiet morning in Bath, England.

I love European cities before 6am and before the sun rises. I've been to dozens, from small villages to major cities, and they are all so peaceful at that time.

It's like you have the whole place to yourself... well you and the fey, or vampires. #Photography

Now that it is August (vacation season) there are both less tourist and locals. It will pick up again at the end of the month, but nothing too hectic.

Shooting sunrise in Chester, England…

Heavy clouds fill a valley, and across from it is a step cliff covered in deep green conifers.

When I went to Switzerland in May, I spent 3 days fully in clouds. It felt like being on an airplane.

Every now and then they parted with a small hole like this one...

Chestsr UK vibes…

A small French village is nestled in a bowl of green vineyards under an orange clouded sky.

I dropped a pen, so I did a trip to Alsace, to get the nib fixed. I think if you get into fountain pens, befriending a nib master is important.

Also, any excuse to go to Alsace is worth it. This is Riquewihr, from my trip in May. It's amazing how much fuller the wine fields look now. #photography

I made a new leather journal!

This one was ALMOST perfect. There was a single cat hair that caught fire when sealing the wax thread on the cover, so the thread burned, but it gives it a little personality, so I'm okay with it.

This is an A6. I'll have to do an A5 and traveler's size next.

In one day I saw wild seals, wild sea lions, and wild otters, plus the Pacific for the 1st time.

My sister did a road trip this week and sent photos of her fam seeing sea lions. Made me miss them so much.

Living far away is sometimes hard. #photography

The York Minster…

I'm back in Heidelberg. Paris was great (the leather workshop was so worth it) and the past few months of travel have been astounding, but it's nice being home.

I'm excited to shoot the 2026 Gaming Calendar, make some new leather journals, and dive back into writing my next novel.

It was big in Europe about 6 months ago and has fizzled. Went from EVERWHERE to now you see it about some.

I’m no expert, but from what I know, and after seeing his tomb, I’m pretty sure Napoleon was a diva.

I say that as someone who is a bit of a diva.

I'm heading back to Paris (I took this pic last month) for a few days to do a leather crafting workshop.

I've learned a lot on my own, but it will be cool to talk to someone who is an actual working leather crafter.

I also plan to eat lots of croissants and go to multiple stationary stores!

It was like a dark blight from a fantasy novel swallowing the world while the light fought and failed to stop it.

A quiet street in York, UK.

Parts of the city reminded me a bit of Boston or Georgetown in D.C. and then a block away were medieval row houses while across from them were a brutalist grocery store which was next to timber framed houses.

It's the most hodgepodge (in a cool way) city I've visited.

Sunday Roast?

Other than the Alps and Heidelberg, Alsace (France) has to be my favorite place here. It is so cute and there is such a nice mix of cities with small villages.

He lives in Alsace, and tomorrow he is going to tweak some of my pens and give me a tour of his workshop!

It was me, a photographer with a ballerina, and two guys with a motorcycle making a music video.

By 6am the place was packed. #photography

It was still cool just not what we expected.

Nuremberg Pen Show!

Crystal clear blue water fills most of the frame, with a few rounded rocks peaking through the surface. In the center of the photo is an outcropping of boulders with pine trees, while in the distances are green rolling mountains under a blue sky.

Living 9,000 miles away from family means they end up in your thoughts a lot.

I miss my sister & her whole pack. It's been 1 1/2yrs and I'm not sure when I'll be back to Tahoe.

Time is so short. Do the best with the time you have. Never miss a chance to tell a loved one you love them.

New Yorkers are often ahead of the curve.

I'm not in the U.S. and as a result things are different for me.

But just to be clear. Fuck Trump.

I don't say this every day because it is a long standing opinion that has never wavered once in the past decade.

Wherever you are and whatever you are dealing with I hope you are able to stay safe.

Nürnberg was super quiet in the mornings and the evenings.

We enjoyed exploring the city, especially here by the river, but our favorite thing for sure was visiting Faber-Castell and touring the working pencil factory. It's was one of the coolest tours we've done since moving to Europe.
