There are other motivations behind AI for creative work and plagiarism. But I'm sympathetic toward this way of thinking - this desperate desire.

But of course, publication isn't a golden ticket. & identity has to do with action. The only qualification for "writer" is that one actually *writes*.

20.10.2025 15:59 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I have to imagine that AI is similar. "I want to write creatively but I don't have the time to edit and perfect my work on my own. If I'm published really quick, then I can buy my way in".

The identity of "writer" and the hope of gaining a "writers life" fast can be so tempting

When I first started editing a journal, I was baffled by the (occasional) plagiarized poem. It took me a while to understand part of what I think is going on. I believe some people may want to write, but either believe they cant, or actually can't afford to & publication looks like a way in

Susan L. Leary

At First, Obedience, Subsequentlyโ€”

Defiance. The wound,
begging for attention: its half heart
beating beneath a lace doily while the ugliness

explodes to the surface. Why
disrupt this flourish of peace, this little tomb of white space? She looks good,

they'd said. Brave inside unworkable conditions. Dead or alive, we make an
anniversary of our sorrow, expeditious

with our buckets of spring. To what do we owe the pleasure? You fabricate worlds in dreams while a girl fabricates worlds

on the page. This is what is meant by ritual.
When we say, the pedigree of the mouth-body is good. There's no use determining for whom

our company is intended. Every gesture
is dangerous. Were I to cut my ear off,
I'd give it to you.

a treasure I cannot touch.

Shell-memory; soft belly full of worm.
What's unraveling is my ambition for more."

Survival Plan

make a scarecrow of self-worth
from bloodied dancing shoes, a mask
and a sea green bathing suit; call it
silly, call it profound, call it regret
learn to dance in the wind despite
all corporeal limitations

so what if the crows ignore you?
this is the daily practice-trade

the desire for a hundred journeys
for bare usefulness, even joy
lean toward the straw gold sun
bow in the snow and rain
send out no invitations, decline
all requests, stay vigilant above
the invisible field where hope growsโ€”
this will be the scarecrow's task
