grid of lavender colored tiles. Spacing is 6.9%, space between tiles relative to tile width. there are white spots in the intersections.

So the Hermann grid illusion can be annoying when doing unit symbol charts, because it causes scintillating dark spots in the corners of the grid.

Had to try and see what happens if you put lighter spots where the illusory spots appear. Well, this makes it worse! 📊
