Today I am working on the design for the Blood Sworn. Those who take blood oaths in exchange for the mystic ability to carry out their duty. Here is the recipe: Take one part paladin, add one part warlock, a touch of blood magic, two pinches of bushido and a splash of chivalry. #ttrpg #gamedesign

Tariffs killed Magpie Games' trio of unconventional, card-based games, showing early hints of a long and cruel effect on the tabletop RPG side of the industry.

GM Tip: Try to make your players feel their characters aren't failures, even if their rolls suck. A miss or failed skill test can often be narrated as misfortune or circumstances beyond the character's control.

Archery hooked me at 5 years old. By 10 (ca. 1991, AD&D 2e), I’d made a half-elf ranger with a bow, wolf companion, and outdoor skills. I grew up hunting, so it fit perfectly. Still at it, and these days, also building cool archery abilities for the 2dX Engine!

When HeroQuest was republished in 2021, I was instantly transported to 1990. My cousin was such a trooper, paying for the game and playing with me anytime we got together. The Dwarf was my favorite “class” back then. His ability to upgrade his gear was so new to me.
