#MEIConf2025 was great again.

Here’s the final #OCRMathsPuzzle of the academic year.

Each summer symbol in the grid below represents a number.
The product of the numbers in each row and in each column equal the given totals.
Work out the number that each symbol represents.

A semi-circle and rectangle ABCD are drawn on top of a quarter-circle.
The diameter of the semi-circle is on one radius of the quarter-circle.
A & B are on the opposite radius of the quarter-circle.
C is on the highest point of the semi-circle.
D is on the arc of the quarter-circle.
What fraction of the quarter-circle is covered by the rectangle?

Image shows a regular pentagon and a regular hexagon are drawn so that they overlap each other.
One vertex and two edges of the pentagon are outside the hexagon, with the adjacent vertices on each edge of the pentagon on the vertices of one edge of the hexagon. The remaining 2 vertices and three edges of the pentagon are inside the hexagon.
The area of the pentagon is 10 units square. Find the area of the hexagon.

Makes me wonder how many hours of maths are kids doing over the period of their school life? (obviously the first justified assumption is that they continue with either #ALevel #Maths or #CoreMaths post16)

No specific evidence that centres with high EAL cohorts that enter #OCRBMEI perform worse, but am aware that this perception is used as a reason for not choosing this specification in the first place. Accessibility checks are designed to ensure that language is not a barrier in any Maths exam

I remember (going back a fair few years) sitting a comprehension exam paper as part of my A level Chemistry.

Is the issue with #OCRBMEI #Maths the comprehension section in its current form, or is there a more fundamental issue with the assessment of A level Maths in its current form?
