Parents rights is inherently predicated on the idea that children are the chattel property of their parents until they turn 18, upon which they are granted personhood, or more accurately can no longer be as easily denied it.

The murderer in this scenario is the human that gave the AI the opportunity to kill someone by giving it access and capabilities it'd need to do so.

So I can understand why people are missing the nuance of questioning the impulse to repackage bigoted canards no matter what the context is, because the person making that critique is also saying a ton of idiotic shit deserving of mockery at the same time.

It doesn't help that the original thread seemed make the "That's a weird impulse to have no matter what you're saying it about" criticism, which is a thoughtful valid critique, in the same breath as "And also what if it turns out you actually ARE hurting the AI's feelings?" which is fucking stupid.

This thread is bizarre. They ping-pong between something like "Slightly rephrasing existing bigoted canards to say them about AI is questionable and arguably harmful behavior even in the absence of the AI being able to be hurt" which is reasonable, and "Stop it! You're hurting the AI!" which is not.

Just on a practical note, it's a terrible idea for a CEO to personally wade into TOS violations and the banning or not banning of users because the minute they touch it, they own it. Everything that happens is no longer an amorphous "mods" issue, it's a CEO issue.

I think what's most important here is that we all split into two factions that treat all statements perceived to be "from the other side" not as authentic statements that mean what they say but as shibboleths that signal absolute agreement with a single specific obviously incorrect position.

Then I'm lost. Nobody who's been sexually active for more than a week writes like this.
