Am I right to complain if it does fill up and I can't register for it? I gave all of the details the person needed and said in my initial email I need every override not just the one given. So I'm starting to feel a little annoyed that I might miss out through no fault of mine.

I got in touch pretty quickly to say I need all of the overrides (very polite) and they got back to me to say that they will do it but need an ID number (already provided when I said I need all overrides) I sent it again and have heard nothing for a week. The course looks like it will be full soon.

I contacted this one on the 02/11 saying exactly what overrides I need and gave all of my details so it could be done. Tbf they did get back to me fairly quickly granting the override. But turns out they didn't do all of them so I couldn't register when the selections opened...

Looking for advice on whether something is worth kicking up a fuss about.

I'm doing an exchange abroad next year, and to sign up for classes I have to get overrides granted by each lecturer at the university. I'm still waiting on one to be granted.

That's absolutely true, no doubt would change during an actual campaign period... BUT considering the trend always suggested strong support amongst younger generations, it is strange that it doesn't seem to translate in polling?

It's now been 11 years since the referendum. Why has there genuinely been zero progress on getting support higher? Feels like we're going to perpetually be a nation that daces between 51:49 in favour or against and vice versa until the end of time.

Once again, the real purity test to being British is how much violence you are willing to inflict on foreigners.

She's not echoing far-right talking points, she's fully implementing them into government policy.

Or to add some complexity to this thought. They're willing to give the benefit of the doubt to a party with the aesthetics of socialism (red branding, mention of workers, etc) even if the party is actually a neoliberal project (Lab) or completely without any real policies in place (YP).

Genuinely believe that it's because the party colour isn't red.

The other thing that's sad is politics being someones entire life to the point that their sense of humour can only be expressed through political style jokes and references...

Think he is taking part in meme-esque politics here, he's been making jokes like this for years. But, it is kind of concerning that our politics has gotten to the point where we can't even tell if something is a joke anymore, because we're so used to right wing grifters saying the stupidest things.

If Reform is seen as a threat to democracy because of their far-right politics, then it is impossible to see this Labour government as an alternative to it

Do they think that by deliberately playing up asylum as a major issue that they'll stop Reform? They're not just warming the seat for Farage, they're laying the red carpet out and plating up the canapés for their fascist pals.

Never once heard a terf that says their primary concern is women's sport ever campaign or shout as loudly about the much larger issue of pay inequality between men's sport and women's sport.

They're valuable because they provide critical analytical skills, and (should) instil a passion for learning new concepts that stays with you for the rest of your life.

I do think some sort of vocational model is needed in parallel for people that want to take that route, but academic degrees aren't valuable because they open up employment opportunities.

Without valuing continuous education as an intrinsic good, without considering what kind of job x or y degree would bring to a graduate, we will never actually have a funding model that benefits students and staff.

I don't think any government can "save" further and higher education in the UK. Not when every attempt to do so is from an "economic benefit" perspective.

I thought Zack did well to hold his own against an extremely hostile panel, but you could see the audience go from enthusiastic support to more subdued support the more unfounded shit that was thrown at him. A clear reminder of what we're up against with the British establishment media class.

Every so often I'll forget why I never watch Question Time, and when I do I'm smacked in the face with the reason. An hour of right-wing talking points being shouted about ad nauseam for an hour.

What is it with Fiona Bruce and constantly prefacing every time @zackpolanski.bsky.social gets to speak with the more "extreme" Green policies? A panel made up of mainly right-wingers, given free rein to make ridiculous attacks on another panellist without any moderation from the chair.

Not suggesting it is done deliberately, but it does feel like a form of gerrymandering.
