I love this knurled grain. Photos don't do it justice - there's some chatoyancy going on - wood shimmer.
Japanese cedar, or Sugi, top and a red cedar box. Beeswax finish. I may add quite a few more layers of wax to really get the shine up.
Mmmm mmm, chatoyance....

Brush box. Sugi (Japanese cedar) with gorgeous tight grained Red Cedar bottom. The pull handle is made from Keyaki. (I have a few small scraps I save for 'just such an occasion. ')

Kitty for scale next to Japanese Cedar stand for my air fryer and rice storage. And a garage for the kitties food dish...

Just finished rubbing some tung oil into this stand I made for the air fryer. No more travels to and from the stove top to the freezer lid 😄. Made from Japanese Cedar, aka Sugi.
