Not if there's a bard in the party. That stuff just sort of happens around bards.

It just makes it such a pain to try and engage in the community for one of your hobbies/passions when what seems like half of the participants refuse to have reasonable expectations. 😖

I don't want to stick the eBay seller with a return just because I'm too dumb to figure out how to use the vintage piece of specialty graphics hardware I bought, but like... this is a workstation card, not a server card. It should not be this hard to run in a desktop. Is there any way it ISN'T bad?

There is ONE thing that does happen though: When it is in the primary PCIe slot on the AMD board with 'Above 4G Decode' set to ON, the onboard wifi card stops working with "Code 12: Resource conflict". There's no obvious conflict, and disabling the card in BIOS doesn't make the Tesla card appear.

I've tried upper & lower PCIe slots on my AMD B550 and the only slot on my Intel Z87 (with primary video set to "iGPU"), Windows 10 and Linux Mint, and it doesn't even show up in device manager with "Code 10: Unable to start" or "Unknown Device" and is missing from the PCIe device list in HardInfo.

Fans come on, LEDs next to each power cable light up appropriately... but no display output. Fans don't lock at 100% like they do on a failed POST, though.

Using a second card for video I can get into the BIOS, and I've tried CSM, above 4G decoding, manually setting PCIe generation... no luck.

So this feels like a longshot, but I found a used Nvidia Tesla that came with a DVI-I port for less than a penny on the dollar of MSRP and thought "It would be really silly to run gaming benchmarks on this"... but despite being sold as "Tested and working", I CANNOT get the dumb thing to work.

The reference sheet for a rubber elephant character named "Emily", but with the E and I replaced with the numbers 3 and 1. She's made out of bright yellow rubber, with black and pink accents, and has built-in boot treads on the bottom of her feet and warnings that say "Keep Clear", "Crush Zone", "Wide Load", "No Step" along with max capacity labels on several parts of her anatomy, giving her a very industrial equipment vibe.

Not *usually* my thing... but with certain synthetic characters, I find I kinda like it? Like... imagine my elephant-drone gal sitting on someone by accident, sucking them into her rump, and churning them into rubber goo.

Given what a pain the healthcare system is to interact with and how much it costs to do so, it’s infuriating and unacceptable to brush off a very valid concern like that, and downright unprofessional to laugh about it with the nurses. 😡
