I beat Chronos once in about 50 runs. I'm still playing, but feel similarly - I'd like to finish the Mt Olympus run, but I would rather not grind out all the little accomplishments. Great game though!

My game is "One up, one down". You play at a table in a circle. On your turn, you say "One up, one down", "Two up" or "Two down". Someone who knows the rule tells you if you're right. You're right if your statement matches your hands in relation to the table (above or below).

I was reading mythic bastionland last night and thinking I winked need to program a generator exactly or this. Thank you!

Haven't made a game yet, but your Situations document helped me kick off writing my own adventures for my table. I've written my own modules before, but the ones I wrote with Situations are far and away my best. Thank you!

And the bells! My favorite Tull record, I listened to it over and over as a teen on LP, reviewing the news print. I loved listening to the lyrics imagining that a kid had written them - talk about world building! Little Milton's life must have been crazy.

This is good player advice.

GMs can teach this to players by showing curiosity before answering questions: "You're interested in the chandelier's construction. What's your character going to do with that information?"

Reward them with shooting down the chandelier and they'll learn quickly.

I've regrettably had characters succeed at a task only for me to put them into worse circumstances. That question has rescued me from doing that further.

I regularly ask my players "If you succeed, how will that be good for you?" It's usually obvious, but not always.

Clarifying their desired outcome is especially important when there are stakes. They're putting themselves at risk for a reason.

I just replayed adventures of Lolo recently! I played it as a kid but never made it all the way through. It was so fun to revisit as an adult. I just heard you on Yes Indie'd, I'd be excited to see what you're coming up with!

Our world was populated by...

- evil halfling scholars that ventured to the underworld through a portal, never to be seen again.

- mute orcish seekers who communicated through sign language

- psychovermin - rats with a shared hive mind who discovered the halfling portal

- and so many weird gods

Worldwizard by Lampblack & Brimstone Collaborative setting creation for fantasy worlds.

I was fortunate to playtest and give some feedback on worldwizard, a great fantasy world building game. I highly recommend it! 1/

If you're near NYC, go to Fabulous Fanny's - tons of cool new and vintage frames. They'll refer you to an eye doctor in chinatown for examination and lenses too. (At least they did for me years ago) I'm on the west coast, and it's still the only place I buy frames. fabulousfannysnyc.com

What do we have to do to get you to write the TG version?

The Guide was also so important for me too. I've never done any (good) OSR play, and would love some helpful writing on running TG or OSR style games.

Your Trophy APs are so helpful, but I integrate information more easily by reading.

Thanks for the rec, I just added it. I also really like the OnlyPosts feed, which doesn't include reposts or replies. I like that it doesn't include reposts, but if someone posts a thread via replies to themselves it's not obvious.

Yeah it's so crazy when people could just pick a system that really serves their play style.

Like what I do: schedule a game a month in advance and then tell all my players to cancel day of. Way less prep.

As a kid, looking at my mom's shelves with knitting books: Why does she have so many knitting books? Isn't one or two or five enough?

30 years later, looking at my shelf of RPG books: Oh.

Recently I've played a few chapters of Yazeba's, which has a whole other way of having lots of pregen characters. I think there are 6 regulars and a rotating cast of guests. The structure and play style of Yazeba's really eases the cognitive load of learning the characters.

And depends how the characters are generated. I've been playing worldwizard with my table, in which we take turns making up fantasy gods and species. It's great, and gets a little unwieldily - but that's fine for a world building game.

And importantly: the reason you're not making change does not matter. Maybe the change is too big or difficult. Or you're tired of the project. Or work is busy. Maybe you think you're "lazy". It simply doesn't matter. You're done iterating - for now. You can iterate again later. Move on.

Watching change is a way to measure when to move on from your Step 3: Iterate. Step 3 is a potential stuck point. People get stuck there thinking they need to do another iteration. But guess what? If you don't make the change, you're not iterating. Move on for now.

To this day I stumble across years old recordings I didn't release, and I think "This would be totally cool to put out."

Time away from your work can really soften your inner critic.

As a musician, when I play and work an idea it naturally changes over time. I had to learn that a piece was done not when I was happy with it, but when it stopped changing and I didn't want to work it anymore.
