Very confused about the "everything is a trope" takes.

People will say, "Fairies living in a volcano is a trope," as if we've all read fifty books about volcano fairies

I am very confused about its use in magazines when that one photo was going around. Am I supposed to want to buy a product in an AI-generated photo? Is it a fake product a fake person is wearing? Why would that persuade me the real thing would look good on a real person??? What's the point?
