My new fav assignment is having students create educational websites on a course-related topic using Google Sites.

The websites are usually very well done, much more fun to grade than papers, & students seem to enjoy the project.

I took a deliberate break from all things school this weekend, no grading, no grad school. I made sure I was caught up or even a little ahead before I left Friday so I could do this, but even so, I have still had moments where anxiety screams at me, "WHY AREN'T WE SCHOOLING???? WE MUST SCHOOL!!"

Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading,

to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs,

is good for him.

I deeply love what I do, but sometimes I need a break from the version of myself that stands in front of that classroom and fights the good fight. I can come back stronger and better when I can step away from it for a minute. It’s easy to get so caught up in everything that I forget. 4/4

She is also a teacher, middle school. As she was leaving, we were talking about how nice the day had been, and I said it had been such a relief to have a day where I didn’t have to be…. And I finished the sentence with Ms. Waters at exactly the same time she finished with her name. 3/4

We live about an hour away from each other. Yesterday was the first time we have been able to see each other in about two months. We had lunch and did Christmas things, wandered around Five Below and flea markets. 2/4
