The new harsh reality for Republican politicians:
Suck up to Trump and you will win your primary election.
Suck up to Trump and you will lose your general election.
They still have time to alter this reality by getting rid of Trump, which is within their power!

I have to wonder if the members of the wealthy class even want this bill. Do you really want to kick an old lady out of a nursing home so you can see a slight uptick in your bank balance? It won't change your lifestyle much, but it will blast the lives of poorer people. Is this what you want?

The "three branches of government" theory isn't working. If Congress won't rein in Trump, and if Trump ignores the courts, then the fourth branch of government will have to step in: public opinion. Not sure how it works, but Trump is sensitive to it enough to backtrack on some of his orders.

Seriously, all trump has to say to El Salvador's president is "Give back Albrego Garcia or you don't get your money." Done.

The Trump administration is paying El Salvador to hold him.

They could just as easily pay El Salvador to not hold him.

Congress can stop him! It's in the Constitution! A more precise statement would be "If no one checks a lawless evil president who is supported by the majority party in Congress..."

Alexei Navalny, writing from his Russian prison cell before his death, said "When corruption is the very foundation of a regime, those who battle it are extremists." Here, that's why Tesla protesters are labeled "terrorists" and Gaza supporters are "antisemites". The regime doesn't deal in truth.

China's rare earth exports grind to a halt as trade war controls bite Shipments of seven rare earths placed on an export control list last week by Beijing have ground to halt, three sources said, raising the risk of shortages overseas as Chinese exporters begin the long, uncertain wait for government licenses.

Unlike Ukraine, China holds a lot of cards.

They wouldn't, but I'm suggesting changing their behavior now, before any elections. Their fear of being primaried by Trump's minions and Musk's money forces them to follow his orders, even when they think the orders are harmful and undemocratic.

Yes, Congress could stop all this at any time. We somehow have to convince Republicans that the odds of them losing their general election are greater than the odds of losing their primary.

How serious is this? Trump is murdering our government. If you liken the government to a body, he is cutting off the ears, eyes, teeth, hands, arms, feet, and legs. Unable to function as a government, it will fail, and Putin will step in to save us from ourselves, at Trump's invitation.

Congress has the power to stop the tariffs. They can vote to declare Trump's "emergency" over, and the tariffs null and void. We and the world must pressure Congress to do so. If Congress doesn't, they are complicit.

Pam Bondi is the most corrupt Attorney General ever. We all can see the evidence of major national security crimes, but she corruptly ignores it as a favor to her "side". She should resign or be impeached.
