Awesome new work published in @science.org's Science Advances led by Addison Tu that brings together landscape evolution modelling and machine learning predictions to estimate the preservation of porphry copper deposits. Out now!

From dome to duplex: Convergent gravitational collapse explains coeval intracratonic doming and napp...
New Paper Alert ⚒️🧪. What is a mountain range doing in the middle of a continent, far from any plate margin? Why is there a dome sitting next to a nappe stack? We have some new ideas for "Dome to Duplex tectonics" via convergent gravitational collapse in central Australia. doi.org/10.1130/G517...

Wild donkey within a desert landscape
⚒️🐎 We expect to come across a lot of animals while doing geology in the field but wild donkeys were a new one.

I found this paper that also has some handy references doi.org/10.1016/j.ja... within. Unfortunately the university that this study came out of is no longer standing. I also posted an old geological map a few weeks ago bsky.app/profile/yous...

His emails echo the historically white, and well-off dominated narrative in our discipline. "I think the constant bleating of the woke-green-left about race theory, sex, gender, deplatforming and the indoctrination of children is damaging to both them and society". Yikes

🚨⚒️ Geology fans, feast your eyes on this impressive fallen fold hinge in central Australia! It's so epic, I'm half-tempted to crane it into my backyard. 🏜️🏗️ 🏡 Who's got a crane they can lug to very remote parts of central Australia?

True! Might be what attracted the dingoes we heard howling around there

I spent a lot of my childhood floating around in the Dead Sea. A must visit location for anyone and even moreso for a geologist. Recommend visiting it from the Jordanian side, and maybe one day from the Palestinian side as well.
