I don't think there's an analogue to SNAP in Ontario, but not sure about other provinces

Ontario Works
Find information about financial assistance, benefits and employment assistance available through the Ontario Works program. Apply for Ontario Works
I think it's going to vary a lot by province, e.g.
(For non-disability specific)

is probably the closest in Ontario, but in Quebec probably "last-resort financial assistance"
Caveat: limited prep I once did to explain social insurance/welfare to UGs in local programs

Our findings: 1. There is substantial health inequality by race, ethnicity, and gender. At age 55, Black men and women have frailty levels, which could be viewed as "biological age," comparable to those of White men and women 13 and 20 years older, respectively. 1/4 #Econsky

It's shocking that he could write a (almost? How's that getting characterised?) break up song with the line
"You're an idiot, babe
It's a wonder that you still know how to breath"
And it's still more of a balanced take than don't think twice

Agree completely with the underutilized and the SSA and census links!
I was mostly thinking some of the Q's in later waves are only going to be available for people in their late 70s (for 1930 births) so you might not be able to use all the financial distress Qs

HRS Life History Data Resources | Health and Retirement Study
HRS has this cohort and family background information e.g. parental occupation for "everyone" and additional information asked in later waves (might worry about differential attrition esp. mortality)
Plus it has retrospective work history amongst other things
