I think a lot of people have changed their mind. These days we verify our identity multiple times every day and frankly I would rather government was doing that than the Elon Musks of this world. It just seems a bit anachronistic to oppose this now.

Everyone should believe it if they actually stopped to think for a moment. You used to hear about people being burgled all the time. Not any more.

Picked up some Lib Dem stats at conference. Some of these surprised me (especially given media coverage):

1. The Liberal Democrats now control more councils than the Conservative Party

2. In May's local elections in England, the LDs elected more councillors than either Labour or the Tories.

My post wasn't a 'defence' at all. All you are doing is explaining why you didn't approve of him or agree with him. No doubt others will have similar attitudes to you and those you support. But we are all pretty doomed if all we can do is demonise and dehumanise our political opponents.

Maybe not most, I am sure you are right. But a lot, and probably not far off half. But where does this get you? You are full of hate, and where does it lead? This belief that those who believe in guns deserve to die? Civil war? It certainly doesn't lead to peace.

Your comparison with Hitler is facile. Kirk was not a military or political leader. He didn't call for, instruct or direct violence. Hitler led a country that turned the state machinery to genocide. Where do you draw the line on people who deserve to die? All the racists? Torch the Home Counties?

I don't know why you put 'politics' in inverted commas. Yes, language is politics. Words are not in fact violence and the peaceful co-existence of all of us requires us to be respectful. Your speculation that I might be a white supremacist is ludicrous and a bit pathetic.

I get that you disagreed with him. But this idea that he was somehow sub-human because you don't approve of his politics is as dangerous as it is infantile.

Why? A lot of people believe in gun ownership. Do they all deserve to die? This is the logic of the psychopath.
