New paper in #JAMDA: we use admin data and latent class analysis to distinguish between patterns in #dementia care (late use of formal care, mixed use of home and nursing home care, early use of nursing home). Partner status, high income, and home ownership matter.

Leuke paradox trouwens. Neem aan dat jouw punt over budgettair effect lager eigen risico is dat al die extra vraag niet materialiseert vanwege krappe (arbeids)capaciteit. Dus als het beleid dat de minister nu met dit geld financiert succesvol is, dan stijgen de kosten van lager eigen risico alsnog 🤔

Dat klopt. Je zou kunnen differentiëren tussen voorzieningen. Fundamentele punt is dat als we er niet eens in slagen om voor WMO-voorzieningen inkomensafhankelijke bijdragen te vragen, het heel lastig wordt om de beperkte collectieve middelen voor langdurige zorg te richten op meest behoeftige groep

Het gaat om inkomensafhankelijke eigen bijdragen. De eerdere afschaffing daarvan heeft voornamelijk geleid tot enorme toename van gebruik van ondersteuning door mensen die dat prima zelf kunnen betalen en tot weinig/geen daling van zorgkosten voor chronisch zieken met een kleine portemonnee...

Meer zorgmijders verwacht door verhoging eigen bijdrage Zorg: Het kabinet wil de Wmo-regeling deels inkomensafhankelijk maken. Zorgkosten van sommige mensen met een beperking, chronisch zieken en ouderen zullen daardoor stijgen.

Afschaffing inkomensafhankelijke eigen bijdrage wmo in 2019 heeft geleid tot: toename huishoudelijke hulp voor hoge inkomens en slechts zeer beperkt/niet tot minder kosten voor chronisch zieken met midden/lage inkomens. Dus wat Nibud beweert is grotendeels onjuist.

AI helpt de huisarts, maar tijdwinst? Die is er niet, is het eerlijke antwoord Kunstmatige intelligentie: Huisartsen zijn nieuwsgierig en voorzichtig optimistisch over AI, maar ook sceptisch over de wens daarmee tijd te besparen. „Er zijn misschien wel betere oplossingen.”

Zoals met veel medisch technologie zal ook veel AI waarschijnlijk vooral leiden tot meer zorg, niet per se tot goedkopere zorg.

Yes, expected lifeyears remaining based. Of course, prior to Covid infection. It's for Covid decedents, so they are relatively old on average. Paper has graphs per age, which show similar patterns: on average less healthy than their age-peers, but large variation.

Individuals who died of Covid-19 were often in poor health, but there was a lot of variation: one in 5 people who died of Covid-19 in the Netherlands had an above avarage life expectancy. We show this in our new paper in Epidemiology.

Ik heb eerste resultaten van een mooie studie gezien die laat zien dat mensen met een Covid infectie precies twee jaar later een hogere kans hebben om de arbeidsongeschiktheidsverzekering in te stromen. Van het CPB overigens ;) (nog niet gepubliceerd geloof ik)

It is a bit sad, because one side can learn a lot about humility, and one side can relearn about these 4 methods that the other side reuses in every single study.
