Higher, I'd do 2 - 4 weeks after Surds.

* * 50 minute lessons advice needed * *
I've taught 60 minute lessons since I was a trainee - 21 years ago.
My new school has moved to 50m this September.
Anyone else made the change from 60 to 50?
How do you get the most out of ~47 mins of teaching, especially extended practice.
Maths etymology- someone created an amazing PDF / PowerPoint fullmo Maths etymology. Cream background, mostly black text.
It's popular.
Can anyone remind me where to find it please?
I get crestfallen when the portion I tiny and they cost north of four quid.
Never calculate the price per chip.
Yes.
17.08.2024 20:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ha! That must've been frustrating.
I remember my corridor being remodelled over Summer.
The contractors moved my desk and all cable sockets to the wrong side of the room, dumped all equipment (notably my 2 visualisers & raised desk) in a colleagues store room.
Took months to find.
Isn't it a great feeling when tou have your desk and visualiser set up perfectly?
Whenever I move schools, I it takes me a few attempts over months to get it exactly as I want it.
I end up buying/improvising extention cables and a special visualiser table.
If >80% of everything else was impressive / aligned with what I beleive works, then, yes. Absolutely.
But I'd be pestering you for a visualiser before long.
Yep, you can't read the crowd as often when you are writing with your back to the class.
Scanning the room for uncertainty, scepticism, attention, confusion etc... is so important.
The visualiser is the closest I know to Merlin Donald's notion of the External Memory Field β the externalised working memory of the teacher made 'permanent' (well not transient) and visible.

Thanks Bryn.
Now I'm going to tutor find my pnned feed...
Extremely useful, especially for any ITTs i work with in September.
Many found this mrsjobaker.wordpress.com/2018/05/31/h... useful last year when Tom Bennett shared it. I think @jobaker9.bsky.social wrote it.
Yes - looks like I misinterpreted your post, sorry.
As far as I know, I have not had the same problem. But I have tried to follow back all new followers - most seem to be doing that on here.

Oh, she set my expectations about that when I began teacher training.
16.08.2024 11:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0- I'll want money to afford travel, adventures & to fund 2 sons through university (if they choose that path)
- My wife works from home, if I try to finish Netflix or use the dining room as a gym while she's working hard in her office, I'll drive her mad
- I love teaching Mathematics
3/3 (n/n)
- I want to keep working so I have sense of purpose
- I want to do something I'm good at,and I'd be useless in B&Q
- I'll need the structure of a school day, motivation of trying to meet expectations & deadlines,to get up in the morning
-I'll enjoy working with (learning from) people of all ages

At 60, I plan to phase my retirement, combine some teaching,mentoring/coaching, curriculum work before I become fully retired.
Why?
- I don't think retirees get to share their knowledge & wisdom widely enough before retiring (see image, I think @olicav.bsky.social shared this on X recently)

Mountain rescue teams.
Volunteers who drop everything to rescue injured hikers, fell runners, wild campers...
They spend weekends training - unless rescuing.
Here's an example of a rescue from Buxton Mountain Rescue Team.
Like RNLI, absolutely heroes.
