The reviewer crisis: data from the journal Biological Invasions:

"Reviewer acceptance rates dropped steadily over the past two decades. Early-career researchers had the highest acceptance rates, while senior scholars were least likely to accept review invitations."

How did North American and European fungi end up in Argentine forests?

New research in @newphyt.bsky.social from UE @nahpo.bsky.social and @martin-nunez.bsky.social looks underground at how non-native tree species and their fungal partners have spread.

New paper!
I am excited about it, since it has some very cool contributions on:
-Status of Invasive ectomycorrhizal fungi
-Definition of what is a invasive mycorhizal πŸ„
-Cool picture of trees being brought from Europe in 1920!

Do you think so? You would still need to manually enter each full reference I guess? Whereas in endnote, Zotero you don’t. It’s also easy to update when adding new references and simple to change formats.

Scientists who study climate don't automatically attribute all changes to human activity. Rather, we carefully investigate every possible natural factor that could explain the planet's warming.

Could these be the real culprits?

The evidence is in--and the answer is NO.

This thread explains! 🧡

A Starfish Has Captivated Argentina. It Didn’t Ask to Be Political. A livestream of an undersea project has captivated Argentina as President Javier Milei wields a chain saw on the budget for science.

Hundreds of thousands of people in Argentina have watched a livestream of a deep sea exploration, partly out of interest in nature and partly as a form of activism as President Javier Milei threatens to cut state-funded science. nyti.ms/45rOOmu

The Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina has been thinning at a sharply accelerated rate since 2019, scientists reported on Thursday. And if the thinning doesn’t slow, it could kick-start a series of changes that might cause the ice to shrink even faster. nyti.ms/4lgguR2
