I watched Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun on DVD and watched my player stutter and skip an entire episode. Ah, the good old days!
Fun fact: the EN voice actor for Sakura, Juliet Simmons, also voiced Mem-cho from Oshi no Ko! My mind was blown when I realized. Perfect casting & performance for both roles.

Achieved a milestone as a non-programmer: made sense of GitHub and how it works. Even made a small guide approved by my CS friend. All of it is daunting at first, but it makes sense (and incredibly useful). Highly recommend using version control to your projects, even with solo works! #DevDiary2026

Thanks for sharing, I'm gonna check out the article! Seems like something I need to take to heart. I wanted to be ambitious with game dev this year, but maybe I should step back and consider playing (and making) more small games in general.

Some weekly updates to chronicle my game dev process! To get insight on digital game distribution, I read the entire Steamworks Documentation... I'm at a point where I just want to make games for fun, but it would be a cool milestone to publish a game on Steam before this year ends #DevDiary2026

I'll try to keep this place posted consistently. Mostly for myself as some sort of public diary, as it relates to game dev whatever. I think it'd be nice to look back and see how far I've come.
I've been looking at Yarn Spinner and Unity / C# in general. As a writer, I need more coding experience

I also feel the same way, I played games all my life but only started making games a few years ago. But better late than never!

early sketch of a drawing showing a clock, with text below: "OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND..."
Woah, it's been a while since I've been on this site. And done anything game-dev related. Still the start of a new year, and I kinda want to try something out that I envisioned from last year. It's about time

Momento is finally released! This game went through many iterations, but I believe the final version stayed true to what I wanted to do.
This is my personal reflection on the small moments, to those who come and go. Check it out on itch below!

Also, #SmallGameStudio has been amazing! Enjoyed playing through all of the games we made, listening to the Pecha Kuchas, and just seeing everyone's progress every week (especially late night on Mondays... it's finally over)! Hope yall continue to make games, I'll always be down to play them!๐ซก

Screenshot of my game jam entry, maybe then she'll accept me..., which uses a free CRT shader from the Godot community
I did try this out with Godot, with a game I made during a 48-hour game jam a while back, but I was curious how different (or difficult) the entire set-up process would be. The Godot shader was simple to implement, so here's to hoping this one is simple tooโฆ (3/3) #SmallGameStudio

Iโm at a point where I want to use my game to experiment and explore implementation. For instance, Iโve yet to use shaders in Unity, but it might be good to create more atmosphere (which I'll definitely be using for future projects). (2/3) #SmallGameStudio

Snippet of code from my project, detailing how to implement a pause menu
The final stretch! Iโm close to publishing Momento on itch, but taking a few more hours to implement certain things like the pause menu, which turned out to be more complicated when sound was involved. If you want the menu to still have SFX, just add a new AudioSource! (1/3) #SmallGameStudio

After seeing the website itself, along with the Blender and storyboard screenshots, I'm reminded by how much overlap there is between web design, game development, film, 3D modeling... It's reassuring to know the gamedev workflow/skillset transfers to all different kinds of areas! #SmallGameStudio

Something that I thought about was the question posed in class, โWhere is โYOUโ in this work?โ Thatโs something Iโve recently explored in my other games, so maybe this time I'll confront that feeling directly. Itโs a nice project for myself, regardless of the outcome (3/3) #SmallGameStudio

Iโve decided to only do a single desk set-up, but still with many mundane objects that contain personal value (โmomentsโ) to me. Iโm considering using time lapse art/videos. In other words, I havenโt exactly strayed too far from the thematic weight of the original idea. (2/3) #SmallGameStudio

After reflecting on my time left before the EoY Showcase, I decided to pivot from the original angle for my game. Kind of bums me out, but making multiple desk scenes is out of scope at this rate. My philosophy has always been small moment + complete > big concept + half-baked (1/3) #SmallGameStudio

I don't know if this the exact inspiration, but it certainly reminded me Emil's shop humming in Nier:Automata LOL. I think it's really nice whenever we can get original music, assets, etc. Makes the game more unique to you!

Taking place through 6 stages, motifs gradually become more distorted, corruptedโevery track title is a gut punch to what shouldโve been pleasant, nostalgic melodies in the first 3 stages. Context is important, but I wonder how much you need to tell people somethingโs wrong (2/4) #SmallGameStudio

Though Iโm running behind with actual Unity programming, Iโve been taking some time to see how others have approached โmemoryโ in other mediums. Also, I'm kinda curious with what seems like various filenames next to each character sprite. Is the character technically organized into various body parts? That probably means you can mix and match a LOT of emotions, which is very neat. Though I wonder how you're making sure everything is aligned

Woah very nice artwork! It actually reminds me the artstyle from 7 Days to End with You (which I recall was on your moodboard right?). Curious to see how the environment / interface looks eventually as well

This is really cool to see! The Unity Toon Shader seems like something I should definitely check out. I should try implementing shaders just to get a feel for the process, but I'm assuming using the Unity Toon Shader was more intuitive than the shader graph? #SmallGameStudio

early sketch of my next game, Momento, about moments across timeโtold strictly through the changing objects of an individual's desk
To anyone at their personal desk / workspace right now: what objects are on it?
I'm making a game about capturing life moments of a character via their desk composition, so any input is appreciated!
As for my desk: keys, ID, notepads, mic, Switch, Ovid's Metamorphoses... #SmallGameStudio #GameDev

Ok so I got a point-and-click system working! Here's a preview of my next small project.
As usual, it took longer than expected but this was the first time where the entire learning (searching up solutions on the internet) process didn't feel so... stressful and draining.

For my final project, I want to challenge myself to change up the usual way of doing things: A.) tell a narrative via environmental storytelling instead of text, and B.) use a point-and-click system versus keyboard inputs. I have no knowledge of mouse inputs so I'm starting small #SmallGameStudio
