Finally in the final stretch! Worked on it a lot and was able to get parts 1 and 2 in states that I am really happy with in terms of story. That being said, will prob scale back the end portion. For sure just final touches (hopefully) then ALBOS would be complete
#SmallGameStudio
Finally have time to work on the project (yippie). Thankfully, the me of before was able to figure out the technical side of the game, now it's a matter of filling in the space to make the environment feel lived in and have the story come to fruition. Last of the undergrad grind!
#SmallGameStudio
A game I just played was "Lootcycle Inc." by Omhet omhet.itch.io It was made using Phaser for Gamedev.js Jam 2025. It's in process but I found it really interesting to just look through these works!
#SmallGameStudio
This is what the configuration looks like. While right now, at this very moment, is not the best time to be invested in something entirely new, the technical side is really familiar (a mix of JS and C# for me). Though in the future this feels like something I wanna learn!
#SmallGameStudio
While I was looking at my classmates' projects, one of them had done games in web. Was curious about the API they used so I looked it up and, low and behold, a framework geared towards game-making entirely called phaser.js! There's a whole section of games made using their framework
#SmallGameStudio
You got this! You got a game plan and honestly thatβs half the battle! (A lil unsolicited advice lol, but I kinda found jumping around through different aspects of a project helps with the bigger picture and to not get overwhelmed with one aspect)
#SmallGameStudio
FS ! Bc I was working on both this and ALBOS at the same time, it was interesting to see how they had very similar work flows. Execution was of course different, but I think thatβs just what makes the creative process so fun! (Decided to to put 3D for the website bc of ALBOS lol)
#SmallGameStudio
Here are some glimpses into the process work! A lot of thought was put into the visual design of each section...to say the least
09.06.2025 20:05 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Okay so this project has sadly taken up most of my time and focus so progress on the Small Game has taken the longest pause...But I wanted to show it off because I did spend a long and many a sleepless night working on it! It's entirely designed and developed solo!
09.06.2025 20:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Finished my Capstone project for Interactive Media called "The American Dream?" Piece together the puzzle to reveal the story of how the American Dream ideology came and crumbled what it means to have community. Please check it out!

Got the first level for the most part fleshed out! Don't think it's good enough for the showcase sadly but at least the cat is animated in ! Found a big bug while I was testing out something else but alas the lack of time hit
#SmallGameStudio
I got the animation in unity! Need to chop it up but itβs at least there
04.06.2025 22:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0After modeling, animating, and rigging the cat, I encountered an issue with exporting a model with the animation baked into Unity. (And it kept on falling through the world) Took a 4 day break because that was devastating. And worked on another project
#SmallGameStudio
Whoops, here's the actual gameplay #SmallGameStudio
27.05.2025 02:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That animation looks phenomenal! Glad you were able to get the coding side figured out
27.05.2025 02:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Eye spy with my little eyes, an issue: my trigger code wasn't working. That's right! I forgot to toggle the box collider on. But I'm really happy to get the code for basic intractability to work. I also started importing more assets for the visuals!
#SmallGameStudio
For sure learned a lot about shader graphs and could see the appeal of making a custom one to achieve certain visual effects! But yes the Unity Toon Shader is definitely more intuitive π
25.05.2025 00:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Cell Shading Test. Cat material and orange ball made with Unity Toon Shader (docs.unity3d.com/Packages/com...) while the white ball made with the shader graph. Goodbye shader graph for you tried your best π«‘
#SmallGameStudio
With the discovery of Unity Toon Shader, sadly the work I did with the shader graph does go out the drain (8 hours....)π, but still need to switch to URP to get the effects I want later down the road.
#SmallGameStudio
Okay the visual effect is not exactly what I want so instead testing out Unity Toon Shader, both in the Built In Renderer Pipeline (img 1) and in a URP ver of the game (img 2) and also next to the Custom Shader Graph
#SmallGameStudio
A little bit of a retroactive log, but this morning I achieved the cell shader effect...however to make it work/interact with additional light...I have to switch over to the Universal Render Pipeline because the custom code I'm trying to put in needs to pull from the URP package

On my desk: unused lip tint, glasses, keys, earrings, hairbrush, flyers/loose paper, mechanical keyboard, pc tower/monitors (just to name a few items)
23.05.2025 17:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Mostly a combination of I donβt want to think of a bunch of different colors so Iβm going to limit the colors Iβm using and that I want to emphasis the light aspect (which is prob be in an orangy yellow) so there would be visual contrast !
23.05.2025 16:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Whoops, here's the gif
22.05.2025 19:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0On another note, delved into Adam Robinson-Yu's work for a pecha kucha and dang his game jam games are really well put together. Some personal favs are "I'll take you to tomato town" and "The Secret of Dank Mountain" (both free to play btw) Love how experimental and wacky these are
#SmallGameStudio
For the alpha build, I mainly focused on making the fixed camera keep the character on screen, having a fluid moving cat, and having colliders paired with the light to progress the story. Need to continue working on the world space, but I'm constraining myself to a set color scheme
#SmallGameStudio
Not going to lie, this past week has been really hectic so I completely forgot to show my progress for my game βA Lilβ Bit of Sunshineβ Hoping to take the weekend both for respite and expanding the storyline and start touching the visual effects I want to work on

Thatβs so awesome! Hit the roadblock a while ago and sadly my mental was a bit too capput to tackle it but big kudos on getting it to work !!
