Don't know if anyone else felt this way, but I found Bring Her Back quite moving. I was in tears as credits rolled. Obviously can't say much b/c spoilers, but how far we will go, how much of ourselves we will give up, the terrible things we will do for love...Sally Hawkins was just incredible.

Thief of Always: A Fable A Fable

Also, look at this creepy cover - and it's only $12! Buy this for the child in your life - or yourself. Or check it out from your local library! You deserve it.

Clive Barker's Thief of Always is just a perfect scary kids book. I remember reading it as a kid and being 100% creeped out. Rereading now and the creepy factor is still high, but now I'm appreciating the sheer beauty of the writing.

Highlighted text form THE NEW YORKER

The task that generative A.I. has been most successful at is lowering our expectations, both of the things we read and of ourselves when we write
anything for others to read. It is a fundamentally dehumanizing technology because it treats us as less than what we are: creators and apprehenders of meaning. It reduces the amount of intention in the world.

I've had Roth's Sabbath's Theater on my TBR for forever and have finally started it. It is aggressively heterosexual and frankly icky and I'm not sure if it's worth continuing.

If Dems fail to make Signal leak an incessant story demanding resignations/impeachment, it would be a mirror image of Benghazi, her emails, etc. In face of GOP zone-flooding, Dems cowered instead of calling bullshit; now when GOP says Signal leak is NBD, a failure to push back would be catastrophic.

FINALLY watched Fall of the House of Usher by Mike Flanagan and it is delightful. Eight episodes of rich assholes getting exactly what they deserve in the most horrific ways possible. It felt absolutely cathartic.

Issue 51: David Lynch Archives - Bright Wall/Dark Room September 2017

A truly awful day for movies and art, losing one of the most singular and brilliant voices to ever make them.

We've unlocked our full David Lynch issue from 2017, which is now entirely free to read.

R.I.P. Mr. Lynch, and thank you forever for the work and example you left us.
