No human-organized system is automatically good simply because of its existence. Bad humans can ruin ANY system if given the chance

Totally this: so few politicians of any party are from the (I hate this phrase, mind you) “pulled up by the bootstraps” folks.
Big money selects big money, which then selects bigger money. I could probably count with my fingers how many politicians had to deal with the word “layaway” to buy things
Does that come with doggy cocktails with hangover free alcohol?

Bonus: the two cost more or less the same ($45M)
Keyboards clacked in D.C. on Saturday, thesaurus pages riffed to & fro, Melania documentary film fumes infused half-empty newsrooms, and capitulation resounded as a prime example of rotting traditional media hyped up the most boring use of $45 million in four decades since the 1984 release of “Dune”
15.06.2025 18:07 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Not only is this so flimsy, but people flip all the time. Pundit Tim Pool started off covering the Occupy movement, while Howard Lutnick did fairly “woke” stuff for his employees after 9/11.

Agreed. Millions of adherents have essentially filed a patent on what is a “real Christian” and that their patent is more valid than anyone else’s. It makes no sense that anyone is going to claim they’re following a “fake” Christianity

10.06.2025 17:08 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Screenshot from battlefields.org detailing disagreement by Founding Fathers on Boston Tea Party: text reads “Though his role in the event is ambiguous, Samuel Adams worked tirelessly to publicize the Tea Party. He ardently promoted it as an act of defense against British taxation and a last resort to save colonial rights. His cousin John Adams praised the Tea Party as a brave “exertion of popular power.” Other colonial leaders like Benjamin Franklin and George Washington disapproved. Franklin felt the interlopers should compensate the East India Company for the damaged tea, while Washington believed the Tea Party to be a flagrant overstep by the Sons of Liberty.”
Weird little history tidbit: founding fathers were split on the action. John Adams & Samuel Adams were all for it, while George Washington & Benjamin Franklin thought it was a step too far (Franklin even thought the perpetrators should compensate the tea company) www.battlefields.org/learn/articl...

It's been made obvious to me how many really not only don't know what the government does, but also the reasons why it does what it does.
09.06.2025 14:28 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0This relates to another notion I got disabused of over time: running government like a business.
Businesses go out of business all the time. Your fave bakery going kaput may mean your favorite scone is no more, but a government following the same path is simply disastrous
