I would choose Mainoo over both Fernandes and Amorim.

I know there are good reasons why wealth taxes on assets that can be moved between countries are a bad idea.

But everytime I see a headline like this I'm just "squeeze the selfish bastards till they cry".

How (And When) To Topple A Leader - With Jeremy Hunt Podcast Episode · How To Win An Election · 18/09/2025 · 41m

In which, remarkably, while talking about the fiscal bind, and even after Jeremy Hunt goes on about acting in the interests of the country, no one brings up the TWO NI cuts carried out largely if not solely for narrow party political ends. podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/h...

You’re not reading. I am putting forward pro-immigration arguments and want to see big numbers of immigrants coming in. Just not insanely, unsustainably high numbers all at once, that causes chaos and breaks trust in government to handle immigration responsibly and carefully. This is what’s happened

21.09.2025 14:31 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

No, they fear people on the moderate left who can take them on, and they rub their hands in glee at the hard left, who play into their hands with cloud cuckoo land politics.
If swing voters come to see the left as standing for open doors immigration, we lose - simple as - and with it immigrants lose

The way FPTP works, govt is led by the largest party. As it stands, Reform
are on course to be that in 2029. Personally, I’m making it a big priority to stop that and trying to be pragmatic about doing whatever works. I can’t see a big vote for a Corbyn or Sultana or Polanski party helping tbh

Seems a waste of time, or worse, to pick on a stranger and insinuate they have right wing views they don’t actually have … what really is the point you’re trying to make?

21.09.2025 14:13 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

you’re not responsible for this country’s ills - far from it. Labour though is the only hope for keeping the right out. I know people are disappointed in them, I am too, but in 2029 there will be a pretty stark choice between voting Labour and having the hardest right government in British history.

We warned before Brexit that you’d be swapping one kind of immigration for another, so claims that Brexit would bring immigration down were bogus. Proved right. And of course if you put Boris Johnson in charge of anything it goes haywire.

Would Burnham bring you back?

What we need to do is counter the misinformation with a barrage of facts about the actual truth of things. No need to pretend immigration didn’t shoot up, indeed it is counterproductive to do that. Pin it on the right and show Labour as getting it down. That is the way to win.

Which is why that chart can actually work for us (I’m a Labour voter) - shows immigration peaking under hard Brexit Tories and coming down now

So if you’re trying to dispel the impression of being a PIRA apologist, you’re making a right hash of it

21.09.2025 10:37 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

And it sounds like you’re OK with PIRA having killed civilians in bombs because they weren’t “targets” …

Very familiar with the PIRA forms of words and you’ve fallen completely into using them

21.09.2025 10:35 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

So you support PIRA murdering cops and soldiers by the sound of it?

21.09.2025 10:34 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Oh dear … not looking good …

21.09.2025 10:30 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

I can confirm I’m not, and have just said Rangers should ditch the sectarian elements too. So what’s your answer on the Celtic PIRA stuff?

21.09.2025 10:24 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

It sort of does matter - if you look at historic polling, when public perceives govts to be on top of issue, it plummets in salience. It rises only really when it’s perceived to be out of control, despite perennial right wing noise on it. If Labour can deal effectively with it, issue will recede.

21.09.2025 10:19 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Rather seems like you’re defending the PIRA stuff at Celtic, but I would be delighted if that assumption is wrong

21.09.2025 10:12 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

You’re defending Boris Johnson’s shambles?

21.09.2025 10:10 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

Good, so what’s your answer?

21.09.2025 10:07 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

You’re right not to play along with the fear-mongering. The thing to do is stay calm, stay positive about immigration being a benefit to the country while being firm that the government needs to be in control of it and look like it too.
