I’m pretty good at finding bandaids in junk drawers.

It’s weird realizing you’ve been a diplomat for ten years and didn’t know.

In life, rarely do we get a chance to see the full measure of things made right.

Rarely do the accounts of debts owed become paid in full.

Rarely do our memories leave us to our moments of happy discovery.

Yet we wake.

Yet we rise.

And wonder.

I wish moments like those were our next four years.

Often times when you’ve told the world the stories of your heart—when you’ve shared the hardest moments of your life—you find the quiet that follows so very vast.

And it’s hard to learn to listen again.

So watch for the small stories.

The air dancing between the leaves.

Wouldn’t waste my time on that one.

It’s an article meant to create outrage and rob people of joy and solidarity. The incredulous response you’re feeling is the entire point.

And creating that kind of stuff is the sole purpose of certain organizations.
