Heh. Same. I salvaged an sgi 2 years ago, put alias 8.5 on it to double check what I remembered of it: it was good, some bits ahead of its time, but also slow and clunky UI, and ultimately too expensive. Beautiful box tho ๐

I think you don't like that when you are in iso and use MMB to pan, it switches to 3d. if you use shift+mmb you pan.
only use shift+mmb everywhere (2d or 3d) then it's the same everywhere. wrong?
numpad is your friend in blender. 5 to switch iso/persp and the other numbers to swap views and stuff.
nothing stops you from using shift+mmb to pan in 2d windows also. then it's consistent in 2d and 3d.
I get your issue, just don't use just mmb to pan in 2d, only shift+mmb.
heh. with keyops it's alt mmb.
but with bender, nothing stops you from using shift mmb to pan everywhere 2d/3d/ortho ๐
