If you're like me and thought this morning's confusion signaled the start of Trump's 5th(!) new war, check out the exercise I ran last year to find out what would actually happen if Trump bombed Mexico.

Did fmr senior Biden Gaza advisor Jon Finer already have a job with this pro-Trump, Peter Thiel-allied, self-described "radical Zionist" defense/DHS contractor when he penned these heartfelt op-eds about Gaza and the dangers of Trump?

The last one came out just a month ago.

DOD funding (that your members of Congress likely rubber-stamped) helps train & equip these units. Here's Army special forces (right) training an agent (left) from the CBP unit involved in the murder of Alex Pretti on an 81mm mortar (fires shells killing anyone in a 115 ft radius).

It was true last year when we brought experts together to simulate what would happen if the US bombed Mexico, and it's true today: airstrikes in Mexico would be a dangerous boondoggle, hurting people on both sides of the border.

This is a BFD! The Senate just voted 52-47 to advance the war powers resolution on #Venezuela! Five Republicans joined all the Democrats in sending a massive rebuke to Trump's mad king warmaking.

This isn't the end of the line, but it's a really big deal and massive defeat for Trump.

Trump’s Reckless, Illegal Strike

WASHINGTON – In response to confirmed reports of a CIA drone strike on Venezuelan territory, Win Without War policy director Sam Ratner released the following statement:

“Days after it took place, the U.S. public is finally learning about a CIA airstrike on foreign soil for which there is no legal justification or congressional authorization. This is the lawless Trump administration in action.

“Trump’s war with Venezuela, if he gets it, will do nothing to address the ongoing domestic overdose crisis, nor provide cheap energy, nor lead to better lives for people in Venezuela. Instead, it will fuel Trump’s authoritarian ambitions, ensure suffering across the region, and put U.S. servicemembers and Venezuelans in direct and unnecessary danger.

“The only way forward is for Congress to stop Trump’s illegal strikes and hold those in the administration who have so flagrantly broken the law to account.”

Trump’s Wild WMD Lies Fail Fentanyl Victims
WASHINGTON – In response to President Trump’s executive order designating fentanyl a “weapon of mass destruction,” Win Without War Government Relations Director Eric Eikenberry released the following statement:
“Slashing funding for proven drug treatment programs, eliminating support for lifesaving overdose prevention medication, and kicking millions off Medicaid utterly fails to help communities through the overdose crisis. Having pushed all these measures, however, President Trump may have stumbled upon an even worse idea.
”Declaring fentanyl a ‘weapon of mass destruction’ does nothing to help a single person struggling with addiction, nor a single family impacted by the overdose crisis. Instead, this executive order is a disgusting attempt to use their pain and grief to expand Trump’s authoritarian power grab by putting more troops in our streets, criminalizing people who need care and support for recovery, and – egregiously – conjuring a new, false ‘WMD’ threat to justify war with Venezuela.
“We know what happens when presidents make unsubstantiated claims about weapons of mass destruction and Congress acquiesces. From demanding answers on domestic military deployments, to protecting people struggling with addiction from being outrageously treated as ‘terrorists’, to passing this week’s War Powers Resolutions to prevent a new endless war in Latin America, Congress must use every tool at its disposal to curb the effects of this reckless executive order.”

Today, Trump again tried to exploit the overdose crisis to grow his own power. Declaring fentanyl a "weapon of mass destruction" is simply an excuse to do more violence while continuing to fail fentanyl victims.

No one needs another round of WMD lies from the Oval Office. Our statement:

So I am glad Gillibrand apologized but she should really do so publicly, not privately, given her smear against him was done publicly, on live radio in fact.

Win Without War Executive Director Sara Haghdoosti made the following statement in response the slew of Islamophic and misleading attacks on New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani by members of Congress from both parties:

“We condemn in the strongest terms the racist, islamophobic, and fearmongering smears against New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani by both Republican and Democratic members of Congress, including Representatives Andy Ogles, Randy Fine, and Eric Swalwell, and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. At a time when Congress should be focusing its energy on blocking President Trump’s disastrous reconciliation bill, which threatens healthcare, education, and food assistance across the country, these members are instead trying to inflame hatred and stoke their constituents’ fear.

“While purporting concern for their constituents’ safety, these members are employing language that endangers their own Muslim and Arab constituents, who are increasingly subject to hate crimes and violence. While claiming to fight antisemitism, their politicization of the issue makes it harder to protect Jewish communities from actual antisemitism. It’s absurd, puts lives at risk, and needs to stop.

”The attacks on Mamdani are a moral and strategic failure. We call upon all members of Congress to condemn these smears, stand against hate in all its forms, and get to work protecting us from the Trump bill that actually threatens our way of life.”

The tacit threat here is that Trump could reduce military support if Israel’s judiciary prosecutes Netanyahu. I wonder if this statement was one of Netanyahu’s conditions for a ceasefire with Iran.
